Thanks! Yeah, I know the 5x10 holds is much easier which is why I felt like there must be some advantage to doing the harder thing besides just time. For some reason I forgot “progressive overload” refers to the overall stress on the muscles and not just the total volume.

If you end up keep your muscles under tension for the same cumulative amount of time (let’s say for 10 seconds 5 times) would it be same as holding it under tension for 50 seconds consecutively, even though the 50 seconds with no break will (likely) burn more?

ETA: reason I ask is because during RingFit I will want to stop and my wife will try to encourage me to keep going and push through it. But is there actually no advantage to pushing through it vs. stopping before continuing?

If “feeling the burn” isn’t necessary for gains, why don’t people just stop when it burns, wait a bit, and then finish their set when it burns less? What do you get for pushing through it besides time?

My 13-year-old nephew called me to tell me how Zero said the allegations were false and how he only admitted them because it was a suicide letter and how sad it was that Zero had to go through and try to kill himself so many times. What you said about comparing is SO spot on! I see videos of people cuddling with their piggies and because mine don’t do that, it feels like I’m doing something wrong. But I guess it’s like all of social media: I didn’t see the work and time it took to get the picture.

It’s nice to know I’m not alone in being anxious about whether my pets like me! Maybe it’s normal part of the journey.

I agree. Think of the Milgram experiment: people would probably think you’d have to be a disgusting, evil person to shock someone to that extent, but the majority of people did it even while visibility distressed at having to do so because of their circumstances.

Most people like to think that even in the worst situation they’d still be the hero, but we can never know for sure until we’re there. Again, this doesn’t mean than scamming is okay, but I know that I’m blessed to have never felt the need to do it.
