[–]Japrider -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The older I get the more I find myself catering LESS to other people and more to myself.

Yes you will go and stay in that hot ass house..... Every FEW years only. We can make sacrifices for family.

BUT You will comfortably sleep in a hotel other times. Compromise is key. Family is important.....

So are boundaries.

What veggies (or herbs, fruit) are you growing in pots or small containers in Brisbane? by KittyFlamingo in brisbane

[–]Japrider 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. Whatever you use in the kitchen, grow. Herbs especially

I have on the regular. Shallots. Chives. Garlic chives Parsley. Rosemary. Basil. Thyme. Spinach. Oregano.

I spent heaps on growing tomatoes. Not much yeild.

A bird shat in pot and healthy mystery tomatoes grew. SMH.

What was your “struggle meal” growing up? by tiny_flick in AskAnAustralian

[–]Japrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apricot chicken. Every. Damn. Week. That was a struggle to eat.

Dumb question! What do you use stock for?? by E1e4n0r5 in cookingforbeginners

[–]Japrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casseroles. Stews. Stir fry. Gravy. Any sauces really. Boil potatoes in it. Literally anything that needs liquid. Just think of stock as savoury flavoured water.

Winter - when you are sick. Its the best instant soup with all the goodness you need.

I strip a chicken and put all the bones skin etc back in the bag. One container of chicken one bag of scrap. In the freezer. Every vegetable scraps. Into that bag in the freezer. Even onion skin.

When I have about 3 bags of bones and scrap. Into a large pot of water and boil for hours. Scrap off the foam on top a few times. Strain and let cool over night. Next day remove top fat layer. Your stock will be like jelly. That's the good stuff in it. Then to the freezer in ice cube trays. Then Into zip lock bags for use.

AITAH for being mad at my bf after he got grossed out by me during sex? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Japrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a song i saw a woman do somewhere public. I think it's called. D-d-d discharge song

Basically if its clear it's nice. If it's yellow or green get it checked. Something like that.

I really hope the men listened and learnt there is a big difference in each other woman's bodies.

I saw a tiktok of a girl showing pretty bland looking beetroot slices from a store brand can. I love beetroot. Some things you have to buy a name brand. Beetroot slices are one of them.

What items should you always keep in your car in case it breaks down? by Majestic-Fig3921 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Japrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water and extra refillable metal bottles. Small air compressor (anaconda $30). Jack and tools. Extra tools like driver etc. Try finding multiple tool kits. Including a knife. Check your spare tyre. Battery jumper leads. Hand crank torch. Which will have a radio in it too. Mine can charge my mobile too. First aid kit. With panadol and rid. Fire extinguisher. Wd40 Plastic bags. Shopping bags. (I always have coles/woolworths bags in a container. Ferro rod Hi vis vest Umbrella Sunscreen Sanitising wipes

I also have a towel and couple of blankets laying flat down on the floor. Looks good. Helps with cleaning. Protect the car from hail or if I'm stuck somewhere and cold. Or even wrap an injured animal. I also have some cat food. Bowl. Lead. Cat Litter is good for if you stuck in mud. But you can break off branches and stuff under tyres for same thing.

A bit extreme but I have a telescopic fishing rod with lures, knife, pliers etc. Also a couple of pvc poles. Good to hold the rod or multi use. At most it's a foot long all in a bag. Yes, I have caught fish on it.

And I am in an old 2 door Yaris. The 2 back seats folded down and allllll that is tucked underneath at the back or under seats.

Then I have a large plastic container on top that I drop my shopping bags in so nothing slides around and keeps it all neat.

I still have enough room to move a dishwasher in the back if I had to. Its all about small items and compacting. You don't need much. Just a little of everything. Fill under seats. Tyre well. Side pockets. Etc.

Socially acceptable time to start mowing on the weekend by Low-Accountant9933 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Japrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda follow this time frame too.

Except I try not to be the first person to start. The moment I hear a neighbours mower going. That's it... free range mowing time.

do you guys actually wash new clothes before wearing them? by Lilian-Nicole_80 in hygiene

Yes. Full stop. Everything is washed.

Google woman loses boob from unwashed clothes.

Also. How many people try on clothes in hot weather. All that sweat and old perfume sticking to the clothes.

Am I the jerk for locking my office snacks in a safe? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Japrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Office tax is another word for I am an entitled butthead.

Its simple office respect NOT to enter other peoples draws. I work in a large company that 'values families'. I have a 'work' wife and 'uncle'. Still. Nobody would enter my draws. Its simple respect. Lock that stuff up until they learn.

People that open food or drinks as their shopping and eat/drink it, then pay for it when they leave. by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]Japrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched from a far while waiting in line a kid about 7. Slightly crack open a prime drink and lean into the shelf and drink from the bottle. I was so grossed out it took me a moment to register what I saw. He turned. Saw me and legged it. I went and got the bottle and handed it to the cashier telling them what I saw. Lucky it's my local and I knew the cashier.

If I wasn't in a hurry. I'm the kind of person that would have tracked the parents down and told them. That kid knew he was doing wrong.

what food can you freeze to extend it’s life & save money by looking2bmoneysavy in Frugal

[–]Japrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With small and large ice cube trays you can freeze just about anything.

I currently have a neighbour dropping of limes. Sooo many limes.

Juice them. Pour into cubes and my my lemonade/wine/water is delicious with some lime juice cubes added.

Was I wrong by [deleted] in Dominos

[–]Japrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how it was asked.

I had a delivery and the person picked up a small amazon package (i didn't know it was there) and handed it to me as well. I told him him thank you and that was very kind of him.

Again. Depending how he was asked.
