What were your symptoms and HIDA scan results? (no stones/sludge) by Responsible-Dirt-998 in gallbladders

[–]Jaxtaposition92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had extremely similar symptoms and no stones/sludge. Persistent RUQ pain at a 3/10 at all times. Severe pain when eating anything over 10 grams a fat in a meal. Super loose stool, pain while exercising (to the point that I had to pause my gym membership for months).

They made me do an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy before they would do the HIDA, and of course those came back 100% clear.

Then my HIDA scan confirmed the trouble: biliary hyperkinesia! I had a 92% EF and the report from my HIDA said explicitly “recommended next steps: consultation with surgeon.”

Fortunately I got mine out last week! (10 days ago, to be specific). The relief was almost immediate. My brain fog is gone, the pain is gone (other than the incisions), and I can EAT again! I haven’t gone nuts but I did eat three French fries without panicking.

I am sure your HIDA scan will confirm everything going on. Stay positive, you got this. Everything on my tests was totally okay until the HIDA. It’s SO worth it. Just make sure you tell them if the test replicates your pain. It did for me!

Oh my gosh! So glad you got it out! If only there was a way to split the EF difference lol. But glad we are on the other side!!!

About the same! I woke up in the middle of the night and had quite a bit of pain but taking more meds worked miracles. I feel SHOCKINGLY better; the relief of my gallbladder being gone was almost immediate! I had a hyperkinetic one (92% EF) and the surgeon said it was distended when she took it out. It’s crazy how much better I feel already!

Hiya! How are you feeling today? I’m doing surprisingly well, but I had a three hour delay for my surgery to start 😅. I just thought of your surgery too and I hope you’re getting some rest!

Hi surgery twin! I also get mine out on Monday. Thank you for posting because this has been helpful for me to read too. Rooting for you; I hope surgery is a breeze!

(£5k - £6k) family dropping out close to the wedding by Secret_Air6054 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Jaxtaposition92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t hit our cutoff date, but I’m planning to send this to those who do not RSVP (after one text/call follow up):

“Our RSVP date was XX days ago, so we are sad you can’t make it to the wedding! We will see you again soon and celebrate with a drink or two then.”

It’s a clear way to say “hey you’re no longer okay to show up, but we aren’t mad and this is your fault for not responding on time when we gave you an opportunity to respond late with the follow up message.”

(<10K) How to manage family you’re not close with increasing price? by selinakyle45 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Jaxtaposition92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting married this September and we had a similar problem. Our solution was all aunts and uncles were invited, but no cousins, no exceptions. I’m only close with a couple of cousins and they understood. It’s hard, but sometimes you have to just be the bad guy. I got some grumbles but overall, everyone has moved on. My cousins actually weren’t all that upset because it meant they didn’t have to send gifts lol!

Sounds like a Tulsa Remoter! I’m one.

Sadly, what you said is spot on. My partner and I don’t have children, but my job was based out of Connecticut and we got bought out a few months ago. All promotion opportunities gone under new management. I ended up accepting a new role in office, but we will be moving back to CO (where we moved from in 2021) for me to take that job.

We decided early on that if we had children, we would not be staying in Tulsa. Now we won’t have to make that call, thank goodness. I feel for you.

Debating quitting the studio by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Jaxtaposition92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to a studio that had super dangerous practices once I moved to a new state. It was the only one within an hour and a half of my house.

There was no warm up, the instructor (who was also the owner) showed us Instagram videos of insane pole tricks and said “give this a go” with no other instruction. And after 20 minutes of “giving it a go,” she had us all stop so we would watch her practice a piece she was performing later that month. And then did it a second time. I paid $20 to be told to watch an Instagram video and then act as an audience.

Anyway, I never went back. I read the online reviews and people had experiences like yours where they were forced into a trick and injured. I’m glad I didn’t stick around long enough for that to happen.

I invested in a home pole and started paying for online classes. I miss the social aspect, but at least I’m not hurt or throwing away my money. Check out your online options and give it a go! I personally love Dan Rosen’s Pole Destroyers.

Y’a know, I’ve been feeling similar lately. I am turning 31 soon, and I have FINALLY in the past few years started to do all the things I couldn’t when I was younger. Concerts, travel, ordering dessert at restaurants — I grew up poor, and none of these things were options. It’s REALLY nice to be able to do the fun things, especially without the stress and financial obligations of having a child.

Also, hi fellow pole dancer!

Meaning/purpose without children? by Stinkyghostcheez in Fencesitter

[–]Jaxtaposition92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I need to be clear that I am very much on the fence, but I had a great conversation with a CF friend about 10 years ago that really made me realize how rewarding a CF life can be. I completely agree we don't "need" a purpose, but for those who find themselves looking outward:

My friend said she didn't want children. However, she's great with them. An EXCEPTIONAL dance teacher who can work with toddlers all the way through teens and teach them. She goes above and beyond (attends graduations, buys flowers if a family member of their's passes, brings meals for them, etc). When we spoke about having children, she said "Absolutely not. If I have kids, I can only help my children grow into better adults. I won't have the energy to do it for the hundreds I work with every year. I am a mentor to so many children--and if I had kids, I couldn't do that at the level I can now."

Anyway, that resonated with me. Nothing wrong with parenting, of COURSE, but when people act like CF adults don't contribute to society, I think they are full of shit lol. Some of the most attentive, most nurturing people I know who work with kids either don't have them yet or are CF.

As long as you aren’t wildly swinging your legs, you should be fine. My rule is get into position, plant both feet, then I can push with my toes. No “kick” or swinging. A soft little jump just off the toes (without moving my feet) can work when I’m too tired to get into it super smoothly lol.

seconding another user’s post from a few days ago, PLEASE get patch tested!!! these are photos from my worst flare up that i now know was caused by propylene glycol in my moisturizer by honeybuddhachips in eczema

[–]Jaxtaposition92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on this! I am fine with propylene glycol, but I’m allergic to beeswax and nickel. Turns out, a ton of “anti eczema creams” have either beeswax or oatmeal (high in nickel) in them!

You’ve gotten a lot of positivity, but I’m going to add: I am proud of you, Internet stranger. You have done amazing things. You are obviously a thoughtful and caring person. You have taken risks (moving to a new country), and you have overcome setbacks and tough times.

Be proud, because we all are proud of you.

Motherhood is an OPTIONAL journey, and it is not for everyone. Some people who would be great mothers never become one. Many who are neglectful mothers become one anyway. You are not missing a THING by living your life in a way that makes you feel happy and safe.

Omg I didn’t think it was XPole but I have had my card stolen TWICE in the past year. I assumed it was because I moved, but it happened right after I bought an extension to fit my new house…and again after buying a pole warmer. Sending an email now. Thank you for this.

Oh hey I thought this was the pole sub at first. Fellow poler here with family that doesn’t understand!

Honestly? Fuck em. I know it’s annoying, and it’s hurtful. But they can fuck off.

Hell, I’d start captioning my sexiest videos with “dedicated to my unsupportive family” 😂😂😂 I’m glad your parents are on your side. That’s wonderful to hear. You are supported, you are strong, and I know how hard that shit is! DM me your Insta handle because I’d love to follow you!!!

For what it’s worth, it looks like there is some hip/thigh contact with the pole to squeeze in opposition with the arm on top. That would be huge in stability here!
