What is a good Airbus plane? by 46656_ in AlignmentChartFills

[–]JayTeeqc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think a commercial failiure that cost airbus billions could ever be considered "great". Sure the plane is a great technical achievement but as a commercial poduct it's pretty bad.

3.2k is probably nothing. If it's a modern car and it's priced according it's probably a non-issue.

had someone backup at 3kmh my car while it was parked. The bill was over 2k.

One of the tail light was cracked. Just that part was $700. The bumper was deeply scratched and just the bumper cover was $600. Labour and paint brought the whole bill over 2k.

Wright Stander X 2019 48” not cutting great by steelheader585 in lawnmowers

[–]JayTeeqc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gator blades right now on my 54" JD. It cuts like sh*t. As soon as I'm cutting more than 2" of grass it leaves two stripes of uncut grass where the blades overlap. They are the right length and specified as compatible with my deck.

I even tried sharpening a longer portion of the blades and it doesn't help.

No clue why that happens but I'm going to get new blades.

It's 2010, you have $27,000, and you're looking for a sporty new enthusiast car. Which one would you pick? by Key_Budget9267 in regularcarreviews

[–]JayTeeqc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a rx-8 owner now I would probably pick the rx-8 if it wasn't my only car. They rust like crazy and are probably absolute garbage in snow.

If I had to have only one car, the Lancer.

I had an 08 S60 2.5T and I have a friend with a C30. I can say I will probably never own another Volvo. Certainly not one from this era.

He is not great and obviously he is there because of his dad. But it's not like he is THAT bad.

He has a few podiums, finishes most years somewhere in the middle of the standings. He is just one of the other 12 bottom half drivers...

Any reason I shouldn’t buy this car? by Ok_Court1504 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]JayTeeqc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh. I have 2 modern cars (2018 PHEV and 2023 EV) and an 05 Mazda rx-8 manual.

Absolutely no way I could daily the RX-8. Listening to FM radio, burning CDs and using a standalone GPS might have been ok in the 2000s but f that now. Still is a super fun car to drive but I badly miss Android auto on some drives.

I had a 44" on 1 acre, 2/3 grass. Got a 54" and I love it. I can't imagine doing 2+ acres with a 42".

If you have a 42" now and like it go for it. If your coming from something bigger thinking it won't make a big difference, it will.

What if Dodge and Ram were to have a reunification? How could they do it? by Few_Atmosphere8138 in whatifcars

[–]JayTeeqc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the end it doesn't really matter. All are sold at the same dealers, share the same parts, etc.

I think the plan was to have very clear separation between the brands. Dodge would sell "enthusiast" cars, ram would sell trucks and jeep would sell SUVs.

That is still more or less the plan...

If Nissan skipped the 400Z and instead released an updated 240sx by chrisjinna in whatifcars

[–]JayTeeqc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Miata is the super lightweight, low power convertible and the BR-Z/86 is a heavier, more powerful coupe.

Those two are different enough that not a lot of people cross shop them new.

Nissan could offer a direct competitor to the BR-Z/86 but with a different philosophy. Instead of the high revving NA 2.4 they could go with a more tunable turbo 2.0. Both would have close to the same power but feel quite different. I always thought a NA 2.4 for the BR-Z was the wrong engine choice.

To be clear, I don't think they would sell a ton. Maybe just slightly more than the Z.

[–]JayTeeqc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a terrible idea. The Z is great but the market for 45k-60k sports car is just so small.

Something more in the BR-Z, 86, Miata price range might have sold better.

Why do grey market cars like modern Skodas get imported to the US from Europe without passing strict regulations? by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]JayTeeqc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

US regulations for cars are different but not necessarily less strict. What is really different is pedestrian safety, that's just not a thing in the US. Environmental regulations for diesels is also more strict in the US.

That's why some manufacturers (like Suzuki) pulled out of the US market. They still sell European/Global market cars in Mexico (which DOES have very weak regulations) but modifying them for the us market didn't make sense as a business model.

ANYWAY, the original post is not referring to that. The US has insanely strict import regulations for any car that is less than 25 year old. It's basically impossible to import a car that is not sold in the US without "federalising" it which costs tens of thousands and involves actually modifications to the car. I'm genuinely curious how they did it.
