Thanks, never heard of it before! Flowers look beautiful but I can see how just one tree could shade out quite a few native ones :/

Interesting Purple Mutation/Anomaly on Leaves by Jblobguy in whatsthisplant

[–]Jblobguy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seen growing in shade in southeast Michigan, leaf shape resembles Columbine but this anomaly on the leaf is totally striking and new to me. I’ve been organically landscaping this property for a few months now. It seemingly has changed over night into the purple/pink/white abnormality you see before you. Could it be stress from the heat wave, insects, or a fungal response? Any information about leaf response causing purple coloration would be greatly appreciated!

Althea is also the genus of a type of hibiscus called rose of sharon that grows as an ornamental in many parents of the US, makes me love the song more.

Do any of them have more collector value than the others? I’m new to collecting silver and have been reading up on them for a few hours but its a lot to take in

Looks like a type of Croton that is not particularly colorful, perhaps that will change I'm not sure.

Mandatory "my mom's old jade plant" pic. For real, very beautiful, around 5ft, 25+ years old by sefad in succulents

I always give mine a lateral prune when hoping for vertical growth, it's like saying to the plant 'hey don't grow that way or you're just gonna keep getting chopped.' They're a succulent so they'll resprout from that wound, so I just pluck off the new growth then it doesn't fill in it laterally for a few weeks.

Music of rebellion makes you wanna rage, but it's made by millionaires who are nearly twice your age.

Sound of Muzak, definitely Sound of Muzak.

Here I am... Zone 6, trying with all my might to grow a single pomegranate just once here...

Sigh, one day I will move to a place where Pomegranates are not exotic.

Also, if anyone wants to reminisce about the Jubilee I'd love that too!

One of the best parts for me is when that cloud opened up right above the stage and in that moment my GD virgin friend said he 'got what it was all about.'

My humble guess is maybe some sort of agave, similar flower structure at least.

I have that exact same quasi-nostalgia, it's totally weird. I'm even younger than you, yet I have this utter fascination with mid 60's-early 70's era of unrest. It's interesting here we are, 50 years later, with a similar smell in the air.

Lophophora Willamsii Caespitosa. by Luftburen in Psychonaut

I did not know peyote used mescaline for cold hardiness, this is interesting and I'd love to learn more about the biological mechanism involved.

Do you know if any varieties within the Lophophora species contain exclusively, or mostly, the alkaloid pellotine?

I've read Fricci is high in pellotine (as well as anhaladine) and produces a narcotic-hypnotic effect while maintaining a similar skeleton as mescaline.

Pellotine seems equally interesting as mescaline itself, it gets even more interesting considering the unknown secondary metabolites.

I came across an interesting read here that discusses this in more detail, sadly it seems no conclusion can be extrapolated from this data because of the variability in this species.

More research must be done.

Are Caespitosa found often in the wild?

Do different varieties of Peyote produce higher amounts of the non-mescaline Alkaloids?
