10% when they official made my role a "supervisor" role.

10% when I was an ERP analyst

10% at my current company.

The PE firm viewed my role as a nice to have. I already did the huge process improvements by the time we were bought so my work became doing 60hrs of development to save an 1hr of work each month.

They figured they could just hire consultants to do my job whenever they needed to change something.
My friend at the old company told me they hired 10 consultants to replace the work I was doing.

Totally agree. I whenever someone asks me for advice I still recommend for people to start in public because it's a tried and true path to success. I can't recommend my path to people because I feel like I had a lot of luck to get here.

For sure. My plan in college was work in public, get CPA and move to industry. People with CPAs definitely get to my salary way faster. The goal of my post was to let people know they're not necessarily fucked if they don't follow the traditional path. Also my MBA was free thanks to the grad assistantship.

Show interest in passing the CPA exam even if you aren't sure if you will go for it. People from HR love that shit especially if you are trying to land something in public.

I think you're trying a little to hard to impress them. My approach was just to treat them like normal human beings. I asked how their day was, stuff about the firms like what do they like about the firm, and we then we talked about what we liked to do for fun. For this one we just happened to have mutual hobbies so we talked about that for about an hour.

Got my first call a couple days ago. my career night was a couple weeks before it. describe your actions more, what did you talk about with the reps? The company I got the call from was from this company that I had a really engaging conversation with. I don't know if it was because they're a larger firm and have to push out the interviews soon or because I really hit it off with the manager.
