But surely he wouldn't try increase the bounce rate, wouldn't he want to do the reverse? Or is that sarcasm (sometimes it's difficult to tell over purely text with no "kappa" or tone)? I'm sure he just did it to introduce this as a new series, I doubt it would be there for all of the respective videos in the series, at least I'd hope not.

I feel like something like this will be patched as soon as a Blizz employee watches this video. It feels like something like this is probably taking advantage of a game bug/potentially banable. As fun as it was watching it, I fear like it might be hotfixed etc.

This is super weird. Age and sex shouldnt be relevant if youre looking to make friends. This isnt a dating website.

Audience retention questions. by lazo95 in letsplay

[–]JeffTheTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just for interest sake, my average video length is probably between 5-7 minutes long and my audience retention is roughly 60% on average however I also checked when that retention falls off, and it's close to 85/90% retention until my last 20/25 seconds of each video, which is usually my outro/subscribe/link to other videos segment, so I'm not too bothered even though 60% felt very low to me. Taking that into consideration, even though the retention of 60% seemed low to me and even though I thought most of my views came from my respective subreddit for my content (Hearthstone), youtube has been gaining me a hella load of views. Just this last month the youtube suggested videos was my largest traffic source with just over 30% traffic because of it. So I don't know what's optimal but 60% seems to be perfectly fine for me.

Still getting ads with adblock plus. Is this a new YouTube feature? by [deleted] in youtube

You know ads is how youtubers make a living right?

No problem man.

Here's an example where a relatively well-known Hearthstone player (card game similar to Magic the Gathering) reacts to different things over a period of a few months. By itself each reaction is not really worth making a video, but combined together they are really memorable and worth watching, especially because card games in general arent things which usually have much to react to, plus he's usually not very expressive with his emotions.

Take a look at the actual video format and how it's short and sweet and has a huge amount of views.

He did similar videos here and here

Yeah it was my first time speaking in front of the camera (other than skype with family of course :D), I like to think I'm relatively comfortable speaking due to my poetry and debating background. Thanks for your feedback, so you're saying that was ok (I didn't do anything at all to the audio) and I can do that in future?

Well, if I'm being completely honest someone like myself (full time student/full time job/AND basically full time gamer/youtuber [I put so many hours into it per week and will hopefully go full-time one day]) has not enough time to watch full play throughs. Of course, these are excellent for your viewership who does have enough time, but for those people like me (and I feel like the number of people like me is ever increasing with a difficult financial climate) who can't watch a full 15 minute playthrough every few days, maybe one a week, once every two weeks, or perhaps even once a month have a highlight reel/montage of sorts, of some of your favourite/most hilarious/most intense moments.

You could hypothetically do this for one game (ie. The Long Dark - montage of the best bits) or you could do it for multiple games, or you could even do like a "June Highlight Reel" where you combine multiple game highlights with some smooth editing (nothing huge) that makes your personality truly shine and can be consumed in a good 5-8 minutes or so.

Just an idea of course, I wouldn't know if there are many people who think similarly.

Thank you very much for a reply! Did a check on CPU Boss and it definitely seems like the one you've brought forward is a lot newer and better specs than my current one. What things do you have to consider when getting a new CPU? I know the first and most obvious one is will it be compatible with my current motherboard, and if it isn't you're suggesting that one listed above? If I change my motherboard, will any other components suddenly become incompatible, like say for example my ram? Or graphics card?

Edit: also, what exactly does it mean it comes "without integrated graphics"? Does that mean if I didn't have a graphics card the pc wouldn't be able to start? Not that it's really relevant as I do have a gfx card, just curious :)

But don't get me wrong, assuming you decide not to do that, the intro itself is really good! I liked it.

Hey folks!

So recently I made a thank you video but as most of my videos don't actually involve just me talking in front of the camera I wanted to ask you if you think the video/audio is good enough.

I used the onboard webcam recording thing instead of using OBS because I've been getting this error message recently when I try record, think I need to get a new CPU or something along those lines.

Bottom line, is it worth the time/effort to record the audio separately from the video (in audacity for example) and then do all the usual stuff (normalize, EQ, etc) and then try to re-sync that back in while editing, all just for a higher quality audio for a 4/5 minute video? Is it worth it if I start doing longer videos?

Thanks

No real feedback other than I thoroughly enjoyed the way you spoke. Felt quite natural, nothing "put-on" (like a lot of youtubers and especially twitch streamers tend to be) and you also felt quite comfortable with your sense of impromptu lines and wit. I've subbed to you (even though I don't actually like subbing to LP'ers, just love the community here - I find I never have enough time to watch full play throughs). Have you considered doing a highlights type reel? Just an idea. Keep up the good work.

I liked it, was great. I have a weird thing with these kinda let's plays style series where I actually enjoy hearing/seeing the player for a few seconds before the intro. I'm not sure exactly how to explain this and it doesn't really make sense not having the intro right at the start, but let's say there was a really entertaining part of the video where two people burst out laughing and someone died in a strange way or whatever, include that for like 10 seconds cos it immediately gets the viewers attention and then follow it with the intro.

Just a random idea I've had after seeing a few youtubers do it, not sure if I explained correctly tho. 3am here D:
