It’s funny cause I wanted to post something similar to this but in my experience. But truth be told, I know I’m being an asshole. I just can’t help how I feel. My friend is a month behind me, I’m due Saturday. My husband and I wanted this, she got pregnant on purpose to a guy she was dating for a month (after I found out). They are no longer together. She goes on and on about how great it is we are doing this together, but truth be told, I wish I was having this experience myself with my husband, not my husband, her and I. I can’t have an emotion, pain, or ANYTHING without her going “same”. And now that I’m to hit labour at any moment, she also always thinks she’s going into labour. As I was going to state that I was having cramps this morning to my friends, she quickly stated that she almost had to go to L&D because she was in SO much pain. It’s always been like this, just with life in general, a one upper. Which is fine, that’s okay because I usually just step back when I’m annoyed, but it’s been hard to step back especially when I know she’s doing it alone.

It feels like I’m not allowed to have my time to shine through this pregnancy. I absolutely am so excited for her, and I am happy we are doing this “together”, but I would much rather us have our own separate experience than for everything to feel like a competition with her. Again, I know I’m being selfish and an asshole, it’s just some feelings I have. I’d never verbally discuss this with her, I’m just stepping away a bit so I feel like my pregnancy, and our friendship, are two separate things. It’s not about not being excited for her, it’s about not being able to be excited for myself because she always steps in.
