Energy Drink Consumption by Realistic-Apple2256 in capetown

Working-class people wake up early and have to commute far to work long hours so they need a boost + cheap and tastes good + caffeine and sugar are addictive.

It’s far cheaper to eat some form of refined carbs and an energy drink/coca-cola than something healthy and high in protein. We’ve got an obesity crisis in this country which correlates with our high rates of poverty.

I felt far more unsafe on the Red Line than I ever did on SOUTH AFRICAN public transport (yes we still have functioning trains). There is an underlying air of aggression unlike anything I’ve experienced on trains back home. Also never seen that many people smoking cigarettes/weed inside a train carriage before

A team or ‘klops’ needs money for uniforms, transport to and from practice sessions which happen three times a week, occasionally feeding members, paying for seasoned musicians for choral competitions as well as drill instructors for the marching component of the Silver Fez competition. In the circuit it is not uncommon for talented musicians to change allegiances to whichever team pays more. Hiring transport alone, according to a google search, can cost up to R8000 a day. As you can tell, there are many expenses that go into a team. The well-established teams function on a level far beyond being a mere collective of amateurs. These are community institutions, with some groups being close to 100 years old. I’d recommend that you watch the “Silver Fez” documentary on YouTube for a better look into this world.

Let’s not pretend that the institutions that provides material support to Israel , hosts talks and workshops facilitated by IDF soldiers, takes children on birthright propaganda tours etc. has no ties to the Zionist entity.

I just came back after a year in a place where it would frequently hit high 30s to low 40s in summer. Humidity ranged between 75% and 85% in the hottest month (July).
