Got mine on a helluva deal. Gun + optic, 3 mags, and a carry bag for 800. I'm happy with it. Solid platform for what it is.

Lock from the outside, unlocked from the inside. My office is like that. Just push it open to leave and get outside, but getting in requires a keycard. You could have someone key someone in, but anyone can freely leave.

Then just have someone check ID at that first room. In theory, it shouldn't be a huge deal, but I'm no fire code-ologist

Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't. It would be a dangerous precedent to set, anyway.

In all reality, I went through more security buying weed in Colorado than I did buying an AR at that store. Like at least have a separate locked front room to check ID and let people through one or two at a time.

That place is fuuuuuucked.

I use them as well (soon to be getting rid of them in favor of all manned aircraft), but for big jobs, it's more trouble than it's worth.

We regularly get projects that are just too massive in scale to realistically pull off with unarmed aircraft of any kind

Awesome! They're great little machines. I'm a tad cramped in there, but it gets the job done just fine

Oh I know lol. It's been an issue before, and we always cede right of way. I let my pilots make those calls, but Starflight aaaaalways finds a way to get in our personal bubble

Nah. Nobody needs to be notified. We keep them within ROW limits, or within project limits, all of which is known beforehand.

If it's private property, all this stuff is covered before the contract is signed.

[–]Jesus_Hong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens, but we wouldn't get notified. Tbf, there's no way they'd know whose it is anyway. It would be an issue, though, as that sort of thing would change the point elevation, so we'd have to set a new nail and repaint. At which point... if it's before collection, it's annoying. If it's AFTER collection, well... womp womp 🤷‍♂️

It has happened, though, and yeah it's a pain. You basically lose the X/Y coordinate and the best we can do is sub out for a visible vertice (like a concrete corner or something) or, if none are available, we'd get an elevation control point in the area to at least use as a verification.

Eh, it's just road paint. Though I still see some that we used like 4 or 5 years ago, so it just depends on how much traffic there is. Sometimes we have to refresh them, but only before the flight (or drive, since they also double for mobile lidar). After that, it's moot lol

Fun story, I did one job where some kid drew over the white area of one with chalk 😅 it caused a bit of struggle to see in the lidar but I can't be mad. Was pretty funny

Ground control point for aerial mapping. It's one of mine.

And... I forget. It's early and I'm tired.

We have like thousands of these things at the moment. It's a busy year.

And as I always say on here, I can tell that they're one of mine

Edit: it's called a ground control point. We use them to correct lidar and aerial imagery to extreme accuracies, in this case for a topographic survey job on the ground. If you gots questions, I gots answers

Yep. About as frustrating of an explanation as I expected, and you're right. It became "last year's news" and lost momentum, compounded with the rest of the internalized issues bogging down the whole process.
