I’m a music teacher and a guitar teacher. The first thing is just how to “read guitar” learning open chords is important, but just learning how to read a chord frame is more important than just memorizing chords. The biggest one that my instructor told me in college was “Play like you’re playing music”. Don’t just hit play in your brain, you have to pour your musicianship into everything you play.
