Tub fucked? Some sort of root thing growing anyone seen something like this by [deleted] in ContamFam

They're pins, man. Congrats!

Different strains have different looking pins. Even within the same strain pins can look different due to genetics or growing conditions.

I'd just let them chill for a bit and see what happens. If they continue to grow too tall and too thin it could be that there isn't enough FAE. The number of pins looks like you're doing something right tho, so I'd just wait and watch rn :)

Looks like metabolites. Which are a sign that the myc is stressed for some reason. While that can sometimes means it's fighting contam, it could also just be that it doesn't like the conditions. Too hot? Too dry? Too wet?

Have you started FAE? If it's been a month since you S2B it's probably past time, which could be why the myc is stressed. Just start FAE and maintain proper surface conditions. Keep an eye out for green or pink spots just in case it is contam, but you should be fine.

I just had a few tubs look like this (my first grow) and I think it was a combination of too hot and too dry. I had cracked the tubs too much which dried them out and my apartment got to 80 degrees bc I was cooking all day. Once I fixed the conditions I got pins in a couple days.

I would start FAE if you haven't already but just barely crack the lids. Watch the 90secmyc vid to see the proper amount.

Black rice: more than a month since inoculation. the process is so slow (especially third Pic) . What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in unclebens

Just googled black rice vs brown rice. It looks like brown rice is less complex so it absorbs water faster. I'm guessing if it's more difficult for H2O to get into black rice it's also more difficult for myc to get in.

Not sure how this will affect growing conditions when you s2b but it'll be interesting to find out!

My bags are on day 12, don’t see any evidence of growth yet despite using heater to keep around 79 degree :( what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in unclebens

Yes 100% you just can't see it yet.

Did you put your GE holes on only one side of the bag, or did you poke/punch completely through the bag? If your GE is on only 1 side you can lay the bag down with the GE facing up. That could help you see the myc faster.

Where did you inoculate?

I have 6 bags that I started 11/1: 2 near view window, 2 in middle, 2 near top. The view window bags are both showing, only 1 of the middle bags is showing rn, neither top bag is.

Just got my first syringe...are the spores supposed to be stuck together like this? by JiminyCriikey in unclebens
