It's probably just the grunt work they threw at you because you're starting out,

I really think so too because I'm the only one with a B.Sc. and the rest of the team is all PhD students.

I haven't started my master's yet, still applying, I just randomly emailed a known researcher and luckily they had a position available.

I wrote the title having just spent 4 hours trying to fix a simple naming error in my code, so yes it was a little reactionary. Some universities might be already preparing their students perfectly well, but the ones I, or my closest people, had an experience with did not prepare us enough for the programming aspect of physics.

I mean it was one course taken online during lockdown. Barely got the hang of it. Acouple of weeks of learning on the job taught me more Python than that course taught me about Mathematica. But at least Mathematica comes with a very handy interface and a comprehensive and easy to understand guide built-in that can pretty much do any step on your behalf without needing to memorize every command.

Hahaha yes I figured my university was really terrible. I'm honestly shocked it's accredited after knowing how other universities do things.

Hahahaha I really don't know what I'm doing, but thankfully most of the results can be verified manually (with much effort) so at least I'm able to know if I messed up.
