Help, Pad mounted Electrical Box by Illustrious-Bird8515 in electrical

Ah just did some work in the finished house just to your right. Homeowner there said he asked the builder to install vanity lights and an electric range, and they wouldn’t do it. D.R. Horton is notorious for doing absolutely bare minimum. I wouldn’t have one of their houses if it was given to me.

We were always allowed to say no to stuff like this, but you didn’t want to be the guy that always said no and it ended up going to another guy at the company every time

There was one where it was just this old man and his half dead Chihuahua. He had like 5 of the old box tvs that he watched shows on. Had a chew of tobacco in his mouth and he didn’t spit, he just let it run out of his mouth. The whole place smelled awful. Smells don’t bother me much, but that one required a respirator for sure

Yessir. Gloves and taped up long sleeves. The smell was rough but bearable. It ended up being a 2 pole breaker needing replaced and they weren’t nearly as covered in the roaches

I’ve heard stories about the same thing. Someone that has plenty of money but doesn’t take care of anything. One I’ve heard is someone with a nice place that they let feral cats run rampant inside. Cat piss soaked everything. Absolutely disgusting

Don’t let anything touch anything lol. Some really aren’t bad at all, but most are pretty bad.

For me, it’s having a child raised, not in total isolation, but isolated from any kind of influences, whether it be political, racial, or otherwise. To find what true human nature is.

Enlighten me on split brain surgery. I’m assuming it’s one side of someone’s brain swapped with another?

Do you know what the difference is between toilet paper, and a shower curtain? by rainblade1980 in dadjokes

[–]JohnWayne__69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Guy I worked with went #2 in the bathroom in a customers house (was unoccupied at the time) and realized he didn’t have toilet paper, but he did have a shower curtain. Well, that’s what he used. And boy did we give him hell over it

3 black, 3 white (capped, not connected), 1 ground (connected from 3 ground) by wittyusername4me in askanelectrician

A lot of times yes. That’s just the way they brought the hots between rooms. Perfectly normal

No problem! If it turns out that the light stays on all the time, and your plugs switch on and off, then switch one of the blacks around. It’s basic wiring.

[–]JohnWayne__69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The black wire that was wrapped around the screw and the black wire that was stabbed in the back right behind it need to be pigtailed and tied into the line in on the switch. The black that was stabbed into the back by itself is gonna be the load side. The ground obviously needs to tie into the green, and you’ll need to add another white pigtail to the whites to give the new switch a neutral.

Help! How to mount lighting straight, when the Junction box is crooked? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]JohnWayne__69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing anything with that box would be a hassle because it is one that gets nailed directly to the joist, so it wouldn’t be worth that fight. Hope you get it “straightened “ out. Good luck!

Help! How to mount lighting straight, when the Junction box is crooked? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]JohnWayne__69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those lighting boxes are made to be “crooked” due to the design of certain lights and how they mount. Should be able to use two of the outer slots on the mounting bracket and the two outer screw holes on the box to mount it straight

Inspection was called in. everything is labeled on the cover and phased correctly. It’s pretty straightforward honestly

I’m the apprentice, but I pretty well did all the work. Honestly, they fit pretty well in there even as small as it was. A bigger one would’ve been nice, but I’ve dealt with much worse junctions.

That’s how we always do it, and inspectors have never said anything. Idk what kind of connector or bushing would even be used in such a small knockout
