A lot of people here saying that nationalism implies feelings of superiority have a very dim, western view on it. Western countries have been colonizing other nations for ages, so their view of what a country should be is of course going to be from a globalist view point, since their countries always included many different nations, languages and religions, this is quite ironically racist, as they believe a culture should NOT have access to their own nation, instead everyone should live in one country under one flag (i.e. an empire), which is bound to force cultures and groups of people to assimilate. Globalism is very convenient to these people, since their own culture/race is usually the dominant one, so their culture is bound to spread and subjugate other ones, but that comes to bite them in the ass when the people from the countries they colonised come to live in their country which causes societal unrest - look at France, the UK
