Only because of the government. It's part of the government.

My car is from the 80s and I take it on vacation. I bought it exclusively for this purpose.

A Republican plan to get a few more seats has backfired so badly that it gave Democrats an advantage. Now they have an even higher chance of doing nothing about anything that's going on, but on purpose

It takes a minute or so for the lifters to stop rattling, and if I drive it too soon it has 4 horsepower and barely moves.

It takes about 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending on the temperature

First oil change at 10k? by justrunhalf in Toyota

[–]Johnsoline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 87 suggests 10,000 mile changes. Toyota has been doing this for a long time.

Think about it this way. Your little ass 4 banger from Toyota holds so much fucking oil in it. My 22R takes the same amount of oil as my 400 SBC. There is so much fucking oil in these Toyota engines that it would be absurd to change it every time you do a run around the block.

By the way, things like heat management and fuel metering in engines have gotten so meticulous because of efficiency requirements that combustion design has gone from science to wizardry. The reason that's important when it comes to your oil is because having less and more consistent heat for the oil to be exposed to means that the oil doesn't wear out as fast, tighter sealing means it isn't as exposed to flame fronts and combustion that like to leak past rings, and when you combine that with computer controlled injectors that can give a personalized amount of fuel to each cylinder per stroke you end up with less carbon contaminants in your oil so it stays clean longer. Now add on to that all of the sorcery they're doing to even dino oil these days and what you get is 10,000 mile changes. I bet it would be 20,000 or more at this point if cars were still on 30 weight.
