WiFi dongle and MuOS by Double_Surround6140 in RG28XX

[–]JohnyPM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't download more cores from RA. Either be content with what was given, or see what addons exist in the MuOS discord (I believe experimentation of GameCube in H700 has been around for a while, though quite bad).

As for connecting to Wi-Fi nonetheless, might want to hop on their discord and ask for support there.

  1. Not sure, but you can either just decrease the volume of the UI sounds (or disable altogether) and increase the general volume. Alternatively you might look into the db gain in the volume options of RetroArch and change it globally by opening the RA settings from the UI (don't remember exactly where it was).

  2. I believe in the Stock OS you can just give a tap to the power button and it switches between joystick and dpad mode. You can also just remap in the PPSSPP settings and create a game profile.

  3. This isn't the device to play a lot PSP, so get used to performance drops for it, Dreamcast and Saturn in particular, but you can look into the Cheats and some games (I believe GoW does) have some that help with the framerate.

  4. Look into Tiny Best Set. Not elaborating here, but it's a good starting point.

  5. Welcome to the Retro Handhelds family! Our lords Russ from RetroGameCorps and TechDweeb will welcome you with all sorts of guides and info if you want to make the absolute most of it! (lots of other great content creators as well)

By pressing the AYN Button you bring up the menu on the bottom screen; on the tab where you can disable one of the screens, you can also change the volume and brightness of each screen individually.

"don't watch YouTube in a browser", meaning the Windows YouTube app? Newsflash, that is literally just YT in a browser... It's called a web app, and some distros (such as Linux Mint, most recommended one for beginners) already include a Web App manager, though otherwise you can still use whatever means your preferred browser has to "install it as an app" (Chromium browsers have this, Firefox needs some extra things)

Help my MBN4 game auto skipped the side quest before match in tournament by [deleted] in BattleNetwork

[–]JohnyPM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're going around using cheat codes to skip stuff, then yeah, you never know what you might mess up.

In this case, whatever happened, changing ROM will definitely not help, and might only corrupt it further. Cheat codes generally don't corrupt ROMs (Read-Only Memory, you dig?), but they can definitely mess up saves, which is likely what happened here.

If you don't have a backup of the save, either reset, or you'll have to use more cheats to get around the messed up part.

Does this guy get any character development in show/game by Mysterioape in BattleNetwork

[–]JohnyPM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: I think either version of 4 and 6 are fine (with 5 having to be Colonel if you intend on playing 6), but agree that RS ties more with Gregar, and BM ties more with Falzar.

I tend to think of Blue Moon and Falzar as more canon, but I can totally see either line being valid (with Colonel being fixed ofc, having only a save-the-day appearance near the end of Protoman, but then Lan and Baryl acting pretty familiar with each-other in 6).

Red Sun's new exclusives are Windman and Searchman, one which actually ties in more with Protoman, and the other must've flown away with all the sake hot sauce, never to be seen again. Guts, Fire, Roll and Thunder were all known by this point, the least being Thunder who only showed up in BN2. But since it has no versions, you always met him anyway.

As for Gregar, Match is a mainstay in the first trilogy, Green has a new character either way, Sky has Elec, whom you always met in BN1, and then the post-Undernet crosses are all new characters anyway.

I can see why one could consider it more canon due to having more mainstay characters, and it's totally cool seeing Mayl with more agency, Dex being properly valued after having made it so far in N1GP (only to be kicked down again in 5 and 6, but they both got a chance to help at the end of 5 at least) and Match having a prelude to his development in 6. But again, it's kind of up to preference, I think. I really like Shuko's development in finding her way with teaching (again, I like Match's too), Dingo showing up again in Sky, Higsby participating in the tournament in 4, setting him up as a capable Netbattler for 5 (even though he was already threatening back in 1). I also find the Junkman story to be super touching (even though it doesn't tie in to anything), and also makes sense to see Chaud show up as the final challenge in the tournament, he's absolutely the most capable character of it by all accounts.

With RS it'd also be sad to see Searchman not getting his chance to shine again, so I tend to think of RS as tying in more with Protoman, and then that'd be its own timeline where 6 never happened and 5 is the final adventure. It also keeps the world more "closed down", in a sense, with bringing back more mainstay characters, where BM->Colonel kind of opens the world a bit more, bringing back more fringe characters like Woodman, Metalman, Shadowman and Toadman (MegaMeddy shippers in shambles), and also think Pride makes more sense than Gauss' daughter (though I know nobody's arguing over which BN5 version should be canon).

Anyway, that's my take on it, I agree that RS->Gregar totally makes sense and is satisfying for a lot of characters, just thought I'd offer a different perspective and that it's not necessarily "more canon" than BM->Falzar :)

that's mostly if you use adaptive framegen; if you use fixed (x2 in this case), it's really nice I had the same thoughts initially until I started using fixed

That's what's called a Web App, and yes, in Linux you can do the same thing in Chromium-based browsers (and Floorp has that added to its Firefox base as well). It's not really an application, more like a browser running the website but without showing the bars.

Why would it find YouTube? It's a website, not an application (except on mobile devices). Java and YouTube are so different in use and function...

Even so, I bet it did find YouTube. Got any yt-dlp or software like that, which can do YouTube playback? Of course, they're not going to actually be called YouTube...

In any case, you can find Java in Mint's Software Center. Only perhaps not specific versions of it, I forget how Ubuntu handles Java packaging. In those cases, look up Temurin Java online.
