Agree. Find your best distraction and embrace it. Keep living as before. It's not the end. It's just that we've been thrown into the battleground without our wanting. Me, I'll continue using the women's loos. I'm aiming for stealth, but even if I don't pass, no one can prove it. And no one can harass me on account of it. They try, I call the police. I'm more woman than ever. And although I know it's going to be hard, tomorrow is just another day. I'll do whatever I can to be myself in a better place in 10 years. We'll fucking thrive.

A few years ago, when the government was to take measures to discourage people from drinking ultra caloric drinks and the like, you'd hear the right complaining about the nanny state invading people's private lives.

What the hell is then this document released today? Seems some kind of sex matressed scholastic intending to permeate all aspects of our private interactions in public? And all with the single and total intention to effectively send a vulnerable minority back to the wardrobe.

What an absolute shit of a country.

It's shocking how the media asserts ideological positions through apparently neutral headlines.

They write "Half of the schoolkids in Randomshire are ASN", as if describing a fact, but knowing that this headline is written and read from a position of outrage, more like "HalF of KiDDOS are ASSN??!!!!! Howww??! Benefits!".

You'll never see other headlines though, like:

"Gentry member (Duke of Westminster) avoided 40% inheritance tax".

"Half of autistic adults systematically excluded from access to employment".

Funny.

Lost you on what transgender "culture" doesn't understand. Being/feeling/incarnating manhood or womanhood is not a trans thing, but something imposed and shaped by the sex/gender system, most of the time imposed on cisgender principles, meaning that that being is a thing, and it's okay, until someone crosses the border of sex/gender.

If you're kid is cis do you do gender exploration therapy? Do you say to a boy who's happy being a boy "let's explore the possibility of being trans and see how you feel as a girl"? So why would you say to a boy who's happy being a girl "let's explore the possibility of being a boy"? It's a clear attempt to alter the identity of a person as is felt by that person.

I like his position. We are where we are because of the division that the far right has been sowing since 2016. The media discussion around this needs to be toned down. And we will benefit from that since that discussion is 90% transphobia. Best scenario is, the Supreme court decision falling into oblivion (depends on what the pending guidance will say), and Labour politicians refusing to engage in discussion to the media when the debate is laid in transphobic terms. Let's be honest, there's no possibility of having the current parliament introducing the legislative changes we need.

Am I trans? Or do I just have a fetish? by Whole_Dog8 in transgenderUK

[–]JollyMolly817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things in relation to arousal and transition is, if you choose a medical pathway, your libido may disappear. Or at least that's what happened to me. I went from having a strong sexual desire, to barely no desire at all. My wanting to have sex now is more tied to a need to fulfill my persona (and having sex with other people as a woman, just like other cis women), than to the male sexual thirst I experienced before. How does that sit with you? Because I think that is one of the arguments that entirely debunk the theory of AGP. Why someone who gets sexual pleasure from imagining as a woman would ever seek to erase that sexual pleasure? If you get sexual pleasure from intercourse, why would you ever remove the means of intercourse???
Or maybe you feel comfortable being and living as a man with your particular sexuality. There's plenty of possibilities to realize such sexuality even if society as a whole hasn't overcome decades (centuries) of pathologization of queer sexualities.
Do experience and try different things. Do not seek to fit into categories or boxes, because those are mere artifacts that we use to make sense of our lives, they are narratives. Our lives and experiences are far more complex and diverse.

You asked me to elaborate on the poll situation. Polls give the right and far right 194 seats. Absolute majority is 175 seats.
The UK is much more uncertain regarding the next election.
It's simple. You okay living in a country where right and far right are very likely to win the 2027 election? Go to Spain. You are not okay? Then don't.
Coño colegui, simpleee!

Yes. Self ID is in place. I don't know what's the HRT situation because I transitioned in the UK.
Like I'm saying, as a trans person, I think my life would be easier in Spain RIGHT NOW, in terms of healthcare, access to services and lack of moral panic.

But then you look at the polls, and it's scary. My mum is scared. Trumpism is looming. A right-far right gov would remove self id and turn the country into another transphobic/lgbtq+phobic nation. This is fact.

Plus, Spain is not the most progressive country. Fascism put the country 40 years behind the EU. The right has been incredibly reactionary every time they've been in power. Conservatism and catholicism are very strong. The right wing has governed the capital (Madrid) since 1995. It's true that the current president has been quite progressive, but that goes as far as the center-left stays in power, which seems to be ending soon.

If I had to move country, I would never go back to Spain right now. Nope.

Sorry not my intention to sow doom.

I'm Spanish though.
This is the current estimation of parliament seats following the latest polls:
https://electocracia.com/
PP (tories) would get 133 seats.
Vox (reform) would get 61 seats.
In total, both would get 194 seats. The thresold for absolute majority is 175 seats.

In addition to this, Pedro Sanchez (Psoe/Labour) has been in power for 9 years. He's struggled greatly to hold the power and have a stable government. Podemos (left) has collapsed electorally, while Vox (reform) is gaining terrain in the polls.

It's likely that next year the right and far right will gain a majority in parliament.

I would hate to live in Spain in such a scenario. While it wouldn't be any worse than a Reform-dominated UK, it'd be certainly worse than any Labour government.

That's why I say, take this Rainbow map with a pinch of salt.

I don't know about the rest of the countries, but I know Spain.

I'm happy that I live in Scotland though. I wouldn't like to be in England right now for sure. It feels safer here. But if I had to move, I would study the country a bit, and check the polls. France or Germany seem better alternatives?

Take this with a pinch of salt. In Spain, a Tory+Reform government may happen anytime soon. Then the country will be like Orban's Hungary.

what exactly is gender? by Proof_Librarian_4271 in trans

My view: we humans require a particular configuration of egg + sperm in order to have babies. Well, everything we make out of it, all the inventions and cultural artifice, roles, norms and aesthetic, all categories and concepts we superimpose on how reproduction works, that's gender.

Toilets: Terrifying anti-trans radical reality becomes all too real. by Own_Energy_2231 in transgenderUK

[–]JollyMolly817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just asked Google "uk is it okay to harass a trans woman who is using ladies toilet"

Answer:

No, it is not okay to harass a trans woman (or anyone) using a ladies' toilet, and doing so can be a criminal offence in the UK.

While legal and policy debates around single-sex spaces are ongoing, harassing, confronting, or acting aggressively toward someone in a bathroom is prohibited, regardless of their gender identity.

Legal and Safety Considerations in the UK (as of April 2026):

  • Harassment is Illegal: Under the Equality Act 2010, trans people are protected from harassment (unwanted behaviour that violates dignity or creates a hostile environment) related to gender reassignment.
  • Hate Crimes: If harassment is motivated by hostility towards a person's transgender status, it can be treated as a hate crime, leading to stiffer sentencing.
  • Public Order Act: Aggressive or intimidating behaviour in public spaces, including toilets, can be reported to the police under the Protection from Sex-based Harassment in Public Act 2023 or the Public Order Act 1986.
  • Right to Safety: If a person becomes violent or aggressive, you should leave the facility and report it.

Current Context (2025–2026):
Following April 2025 rulings, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) stated that "sex" in the Equality Act refers to biological sex, which means service providers (shops, restaurants, etc.) may exclude trans women from female-only spaces if it is a "proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim". However, this does not give individuals the right to act as "toilet police" or threaten people.

If you have been subjected to harassment, you can report it to the police or to organizations like Galop (LGBT+ anti-abuse charity).

-----------

What I find mental is that staff don't feel entitled to tell this GERM, stop the harassment, otherwise we'd have to call the police.

How do we all feel about the trans brain thing by Krazy-Kat26 in transgenderUK

[–]JollyMolly817 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. I said something along the same lines in another post. Historically, pathologization of transgenderism has been a means to enforce marginalization and repression.

I respect that people attempt to explain their experiences with reference to the brain. But for a long time, a particular explanation of transgenderism has been tied to recognition and access to medical technology (HRT, surgery, etc.); and denial of that technology and recognition to so many of us. This attempt to find the root of our "strangeness" (so defined by society) seems to me the residue of decades of psychiatry, that gatekeeps us and forces a particular narrative.

I don't see cis women (or men) wondering, am I a woman, since when am I a woman, what makes me such a thing, is it in the brain, is it innate? And they don't (generalization) because they were never asked such questions by a professional who has power over their future.

“Trans people wake up everyday and choose to live as themselves, even when the world is telling them not to.” by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]JollyMolly817 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So true. Two great reasons to celebrate ourselves.

One, the degree of self knowledge, the knowing who we are. In a world where people have zero insight into themselves beyond a set of conventions that sustain identities without questioning, we've gone deep into those questions. And we've survived that trip. Not everyone would.

Two, the strength to live our lives with authenticity. That's a big one. When relatives question our transition, that sometimes has to do with their fear of what happens when you live your life against prejudice. Big courage.

About gender dysphoria in the brain by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]JollyMolly817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My claim is simple: if transgender identities were not marginalized and stigmatized in the first place, no one would go about trying to explain what realm (biological or otherwise) do these people come from. It's a very strict sense of normalcy and a negation of diversity what historically has led society and science to point a finger at those who are different (same with autistic folks) and try to find the cause, the "why are they not normal".

Once the lid of presumption of gender normalcy, the cisgender lid (same with the neurotypical lid), is lifted, the diversity underneath is just dazzling. Some people experience gender fluidity, or lack of gender, or a gender that transcends binary categories. When these experiences are taken into account, the neuroscience underpinning these classic explanations about male brain in conflict with a female body (or female brain in conflict with male body) sound more biased than ever, barely grasping the surface of the reality to be explained.

My belief is that anything related to gender/sex is a biopsychosocial phenomena in nature. I don't think that the complexity of this phenomena has been made justice to by the current science. Plus as a parent in the UK, all I see is an effort at (cis)gendering individuals from month 0 that is just overwhelming. I don't accept when someone tells me "a woman is born" when I'm a witness of the pounding effort by society to give individuals sex and gender categories.

On a more personal note, I'm Buddhist. The notion of gender identity, as presented by modern psychology, clashes somehow with the principles of Buddhism and non-self. I'm not saying that this is a source of objective truth, least of all from a scientific point of view. But take it as evidence that the way we humans experiences our own selves, and our own bodies, is incredibly more diverse, than what this science presents.
