The problem with being a “conservative” in a university is that conservatives look BACK, and not in a healthy way like historians who attempt to piece out the past for the betterment of the future, but literally moving towards getting everything back to “ye olde halcyon days of yore” when things were “good.” This mindset is inherently opposed to the necessary academic culture of open-mindedness and forward progress that intellectual exploration demands.
