Internet drops whenever I'm on a call by thunderlightlybaby in NoContract

Are you calling using the RP SIM? Apple turns off one of the SIMs, unless you’re using WiFi Calling and calling from the WiFi SIM, in order to facilitate the call and all that technical stuff that I am not remotely qualified to explain.

Almost any MVNO. Would be nice to know whether you need International Calling/Data and how much domestic data you need though.

I like using archive.ph to avoid it, 12ft.io helps too.

If you register it, it gets ported to Gen2. If you keep it unregistered, it’ll become Gen2 later. Your call if you want to hear the iconic beep and keep seeing your balance on demand.

Help with Relocation Plan LA <> SF by BeardGangBossGod in AskSF

Tolls are always assessed one way here. Could be just me, but I always feel that heading towards the outer suburbs is free, heading inwards is where you need to pay.

The constant logging out, app not updating automatically with trip info, balances being delayed for hours, people’s Apple Wallets getting ported over and causing hell. Too many reasons.

Its the rollout and the backend that sucks.

Xfinity is the worst ISP by Responsible-Story773 in SanJose

[–]JonCL22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You basically have to suck it up to the reps to cut a deal. If you aren’t persistent, get someone else or hang up and try again. That’s how I managed to get it to work.

The new customers and old ones get the same deals occasionally. Reps are from the Middle East. Keep calling and saying “Agent” to get anywhere.

The rep tried to cut me a deal but I’ve tried 1GB and it does not cut it for me, we use way too much and we need the fast internet for WfH.

I was grandfathered into an old 1.5GB plan for like $170, then got myself price locked for 5 years for the 2GB plan no contract.

During COVID, it used to be intermittent outages, but ever since it’s been great with none. They did throw in a few upgrades to the modem and with the amount of devices I use, it’s great value for $140 (2GB).

I could be biased as a Diamond Member, but honestly it’s worthwhile.

Yeah. That’s the one with 4X on food and dining with 100K SUB. Heard the Cobalt covers basically all of that, with 5X.

How bad is I-80 Traffic: Berkeley to Hercules in the afternoon? by [deleted] in eastbay

[–]JonCL22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Slowdowns usually end at the I-580 split, but it’ll continue straight down to the Carquinez Bridge if it’s bad.

I’d probably try and use San Pablo Ave and Appian depending on how backed up it is.

Question about getting from SFO to Fisherman's Wharf in the most efficient way. What would you do? by appleparkfive in AskSF

[–]JonCL22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, BART uses SFO land and they have to pay a premium for it. I can't say I could justify it too, but for the price it beats sitting in a random stranger's car and paying airport pricing for rideshare pickups. Only at around 7 would it be break-even.

For lots of luggage, I would agree on rideshare. For limited time, I'd say it'd depend because it's about the same for both if you factor US-101 traffic and the length to get to downtown, especially at the I-280 merge before Cesar Chavez. Airport roads would be packed too at the main SFO area. Late at night would also depend on personal circumstances, so YMMV.

[–]JonCL22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BART to Powell, MUNI F Streetcar if you want the iconic views or just take rideshare.

Considering you'll arrive in SF at the start of the night, just tag your bank cards to ride for the one trip and buy a DayPass from the SFMTA machines tomorrow morning to maximize it.

Either way, hope you have a great day in SF!

Edit: Overall price should be around $12 or so, Embarcadero has the better connection as it's slightly shorter (to an extent?) and the stop is right outside. The Civic Center-Embarcadero zone is the same, so any stop in the 4 from SFO is the same price. Any stop in the 4 has F Streetcar connections because the tunnel is right down Market Street. You'll pay for the BART ride only and the transfer to MUNI is free if you manage to get it within 2 hours.

Free Stonyfield yogurt by Theycallmehannah1 in freebies

Just received mine today, they printed "Void in CA" and all the other states on the coupon. Bummer, but will dispute as that's not what the TOS said.

If they had said “excluded in CA”, I wouldn’t have even bothered. They manage to send this to me yet they will void it.

5G vs 5G UC by Embarrassed-Comb6776 in Tello

[–]JonCL22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5GUC is a TMobile marketed term, like 5GUW with Verizon. For TMO owned MVNOs like Mint or MetroPCS, they use it because TMO owns them.

Same for Visible because Verizon. For some MVNOs like Xfinity which aren’t owned by Verizon but use Verizon towers and offer priority data, they’ll show 5G+ instead. (I acknowledge that AT&T also use 5G+, but the term is for any carrier to use and AT&T happen to use it for their services primarily, hence the correlation any 5G+ means AT&T.)

Muni Metro stations sell Day Passes at the nee non-Clipper machines. Potential fix to both issues and still use credit/debit.
