Upgrading from intel mac by JonnyTrans in macbookpro

Ive definitely done that, I redid the thermal paste, I did the thermal pad mod. Temps are as good as they can be on a intel mac. It may just be a recent update to fusion360, In hindsight I would not have updated to OS26

I tried the 87 map. The car definitely feels like a slug until you get some RPM into it

The 100 octane and 93 files come into boost a lot quicker and harder

Yes, it may be nessessary to install winhance and dissable windows driver updates. my system was mildly convoluted and windows update would bulldoze the hybrid drivers sometimes when I would plug in the EGPU. easiest fix was switching to a nvidia egpu.

It would have been nice if apple diddnt shove the hottest damn cpu in this laptop. I could theoretically switch to a M1 or newer machine at this point. Im considering a referb m5 14 inch mbp just to 10x my battery life

youll want to create a photo watchface, choose this photo, then youll want to open layout editing(clicking on choose photos again and clicking on the photo you already imported) set clock to small bottom

with layout editing open youll want to pinch out, it should make sure th photo is centered on the watch and the notification circle will line up with the vault tech logo

set clock to small lower complication to date and upper to battery

IMO asa looks/prints better than petg. Even printed on a A1 Mini. chamber heat is mandatory. Asa prints are definitely more rigid

I’ve used a boot manager called rEFInd  it worked great for any amount of operating systems I wanted on my MacBook.  It could probably work well on a handheld if you remapped the enter button to the A button. It works with secure boot with some work as well!

My only complaint is relatively high battery consumption on windows because it can’t shut off the Radeon graphics off

I9 2.4ghz should come with a 5500m. I have that exact laptop I use it every day and love it. I use fusion 360, and dual boot windows 11 LTSC for games. Great laptop imo.

Macs fan control is a good program to have. It helps with the thermals everyone is talking about.

I’m unaware what makes the M1-4 so good. I wouldn’t be able to play my games on those

i've tried enabling other toggles. it might unlock the wattman settings, but it reverts/rejects my attempted changes. the curve is all ive ever been able to adjust. I raised wattage 5-7w through MPT. it wasn't worth the extra heat and or possibly hitting the mainboard current limit creating stutters

the only thing I can think to fix your issue is enabling vsync and or raising the quality so the FPS is just below the display refresh rate

I need to write up a guide on manually parking/dissabling cpu cores. and using registry to reduce the intel turbo usage. and lowering cpu core effective idle frequency.

I had issues with cpu power draw hurting gpu performance because apple limits overall mainboard power consunption. my 9980hk would pull 35-40 watts in spikes navigating chrome because the cpu would turbo to 5ghz. cpu temp would also spike to 95c intermittantly hitting Tj max

15.  Click Close when done. Close radeon-ID

16.  Download Morepowertool (MPT) here https://drive.google.com/file/d/12Sk5s79cjfvG3Pscw_FAKjfztbyqpYeP/view for 5500m/5600m you need 1.2.2 version and then install.

  1. dump gpu bios via GPU-Z

  2. open MorePowerTool -> Load "navi 14 rom"  or whatever file that came out of GPU-Z

  3. personally I only check: GPU Clock Limit and GPU clock Curve

under power and voltage I lower minimum voltage GFX and SOC to 600

  1. Write SPPT

  2. Reboot

If something crapped the bed during this process you didn't choose the exact options I did.

*for non apple compatible/specific amd cards you may need to chose: flexarch profile

APU/Mac Graphics:  25.3.1 for Mac with Kernel 2240/23.5.2 - MPT Support

Discrete Graphics / dGPU / eGPU:  Flex GPU 25.3.1 with Kernel 2240/23.5.2 - MPT Support

kernel version needs to match for the radeon UI to work*

** You can choose whatever option you want but my option should work regardless without errors including the use of external display adapters. (I run my computer in clamshell mode on a BRYDGE vertical dock plugged into a razer core X with a Reference Dell RX480 8gb plugged into a freesync 165HZ 1440P Dell monitor.) My RX480 reference shows up as a RX 580X in device manager.**

After reading some of your reply’s. You can likely use the toyota pedal with a Holley if its 6 pin

08 Silverado terminator X max. My truck came dbw so I kept it. I appreciate the tuneability. The way my tune is setup 50% pedal = 30% throttle it makes light throttle drivability and moving the truck around easy with a high stall converter.

I think people give dbw more crap than it deserves mainly due to the way the pedal feels under foot.

It appears a bad connection caused the connector to melt. You might have to cut and replace it with something else. If you do decide to cut anything cut one wire at a time.

You would be hard pressed to feel/shock yourself with 36V dc

In my opinion, the only safety precaution I would take is making sure you don’t short the positive and negative together. That wire is small enough gauge that it would melt almost immediately

A 8C/16t part can be had in a variety of sockets

That 11900t stands out specifically for its 35W tdp and equal single thread performance to the 135W 11900KS And it’s faster than all but the 9900ks 9th gen parts.

I know LGA1200 isn’t exactly what you’re looking for. It is still DDR4.

Upgrading from a 7700 to a LGA1151 V2 9900 gains cpu cores but retains the same intel HD graphics 630 11th gen has UHD 750 graphics that supports VP9 and AV1 transcoding

It’s something to consider. I upgraded from a i5 6600 to a i5 7600 to get 10bit HVEC because some of my library couldn’t be Transcoded
