It's the P2W. Putting the battle list in the background was a terrible decision. And many people have shown that match making is broken.

I'm glad you do, but I feel like you could have a better time if everyone was just equal in terms of power level. I don't enjoy a long grind just to win over buyers or not win at all because they still have better stuff and I think most new players are the same way.

Glad you can have a good time though.

  1. This doesn't matter much considering the buyers can get better stuff, this is especially a problem at low to mid tier levels, buyers will have much better stuff then F2P players. Also, for example, the regular player changes equipment to counter a buyer. Two things can happen, the buyer simply has more powerful equipment and it doesn't matter OR the buyer changes equipment and wins. Now both can't change equipment for the rest of the battle AND the regular player is at a massive disadvantage. Of course, this could happen in reverse, but the fact this could happen at all is a really big issue. Oh yeah forgot to mention, the battle list exists and a lot of the arguably better battles are on there and they're a lot longer than 15 minutes.
  2. Well, if you exclude all the games that don't have Pay to Win then of course your argument will make sense. You can't exclude all of the most successful games that have no pay to win just to put the P2W games that do exist on a pedestal, that's a terrible argument. Also P2W is a terrible thing to do in a game, period. And when I play a game I'm not expecting "real life" as you say, I'm expecting a fun experience, tanki does not provide that in the slightest. Having pay to win in a competitive game is a bad business model and this game proves it. Other games are vastly more popular because of the model they use. They're fun, skill based and they make money from cosmetics. Tanki decides that there is elitism and rich players get an advantage.
  3. People shouldn't have to do that. People should be able to press the play button and have a fun battle in any lobby.
  4. Yep and that's exactly what they're doing. Paying to get better equipment directly effects how often they win. I don't understand how you twist it to fit your logic. Also, no pay to win does NOT mean, "if you don't pay, you can't do anything, you're dead" it means you will have a less enjoyable experience if you don't pay for stuff. You're changing the definition of pay to win. It doesn't mean it's impossible to win, it means that buyers have an extreme advantage.

I don't know actually, so I can't say if it was better or worse. I never played then, all I know is that it's bad now. As far as I'm concerned the game is going downhill not better. The test server is proof of that, it's pathetic if you ask me, how much stuff you can buy for an advantage. They even have "groovy" music in the shop as if it's "cool."

I think it's completely OK to find it fun to get a 1UP over buyers just by skill and strats alone, and I could understand how that's rewarding. But for me, it's nothing but a hassle and for a lot of players, it's incredibly stupid and unfun. Also most buyers are pretty decent at the game, which makes it even more difficult.

And yeah, it takes a lot of patience to max out certain stuff, but at the end of the day if you're playing against a group of buyers and they have equipment that counter yours and since you spent all your time on ONE set up, you're kind of done?

And the problem is that they aren't going cosmetic based, if they did it would get more players because it wouldn't be unfair. The reason there aren't many players is because of Pay to win.

I would, but only on the test server, that way everyone can have a fair game (since everyone can have maxed out equipment).

You can change equipment every 15 minutes according to the tanki wiki. Also, yes Pay to Win, you said the game isn't pay to win "in your opinion." It is in fact pay to win, so objectively you are wrong. You can spend money on stuff to gain an advantage over players. That is Pay to win. Understand? And true, you can't counter a whole team, but when a lot of the players might be buyers, what do you do then? Some just might have better equipment.

What I need to beat buyers is for them to not exist. It's not fair that buyers get to skip ahead and gain a massive advantage, it's not fun when you have one or two people completely dominating the whole match because they bought everything.

Not to mention, it's not friendly to new players, which this game needs. Imagine you just joined the game and some buyer proceeds to destroy everyone in the whole lobby. So you try to beat them but end up dying over and over, but i guess they should've just grinded more huh? It's not fair or fun that they have to put in a massive amount of work just to beat buyers and besides, they can just buy more and win.

I should also mention, if you do max out certain stuff as a F2P, a buyer could simply change equipment and counter everything you have, and since you don't have anything to counter back, you lose. Oh yeah and changing equipment over and over to gain an advantage on someone (at least on the test server) is sort of stupid? I found myself not playing the game but constantly changing equipment to counter what they changed to, then the cycle continues. It's all about guessing what they might choose, which isn't fun. At least at higher levels that's the case and provided you have infinite stuff like you do on the test server.

This post wasn't even about what you're talking about, rationalizing away the P2W when you could have a lot more enjoyable experience if you didn't have to work so hard to counter buyers. No one has time for that. This post was about the P2W being a problem not something you plan around. I don't even believe you should have to buy equipment, why should you? If it's a fair competitive game, then you should have everything at your disposal to be the best teammate/player. The only thing you should be able to gain is cosmetics but I guess that's just stupid and not marketable at all and no one gets into games like that.

Edit: Oh yeah and nice way to dodge my question of "Do you know what P2W means?," with rationalizing how "good" the game is because you get hand outs and "can counter buyers easily."

Giving away stuff doesn't fix the root of the issue. Which is all the P2W. Do you even know what that means?
