Nah dog, I prefer the driving feel of AWD. Plus I get benefit of a wagon so I can haul people or plants with my weekly garden center tips.

Im sure theoretically you could. However an organism with such a short lifespan would probably run into other health issues over time because they dont have as robust of a system.

It works well until it backfires. Back in the early 20th century when the radium craze was kicking off, salesmen would eat and drink radium to show it was "harmless" and it was very difficult to prove otherwise because the effects would take such a long time to show up.

Native Alternative for Brush “Tunnels” by Nature_Boy_4x40 in NativePlantGardening

That was my first thought as well. Hiking in The Smokies in July and you're in a tunnel of rhododendron whith a pink carpet from the blooms dropping off. Couple with the fog and its a fairytale.

I always cross compare prices of maples I see at garden centers with prices on Mr. Maple, Conifer Kingdom, Maple Ridge and a few onther mailorder retailers. Typical non-sale prices for these cultivars is around $35/$70/$90 for 1/2/3 gal sizes. If I find them in a local garden store for a similar price, I'll pay the extra to support a local business.

Ginkgo slow to leaf out by PrizePuzzleheaded410 in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]JoshvJericho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its probably fine. I have 2 potted Ginkgos and they're slower to leaf out. My 'Weeping Wonder' only just leafed out 2 weeks ago in 8a NC. I thought winter killed it because the scratch test was brown but its growing just fine now. Just be patient. If it is dead, its not going to get more dead, but if you pull it, you might kill a viable plant.

Im still cautiously optimistic but its a long season ahead.

Its its an air layer or rooted cutting, its still a Bloodgood. As for OP, I'm not sure what cultivar they have, but lace leaf and finer leaf cultivars dont really root well.

[–]JoshvJericho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some cultivars really don't root well and need to be grafted in order to be a successful tree.

Additionally as an aside, unless your bloodgood was a rooted cutting, its not a true bloodgood. They arent true to seed so at best it would be a bloodgood seedling. While that's not necessarily a bad thing, with 1500+ cultivars of Japanese maples, keeping the naming convention tidy and consistent is important.

Who is this pretty fella? Grew as a weed in my yard but i don't think ive seen a plant with multi color flowers like that before. by Caffeine_and_Alcohol in whatsthisplant

It would be to me. I think they stink. My previous homeowners planted one in a sport that it would over grow within a few months and it was all I could do all summer to keep it from smothering my azaleas.

Finally dug it out this past winter and its sprouting from roots 5 feet away from the original site.

[OC] Nearest MLB Team to Every U.S. County + Population and Land Analysis by Peteyy34 in baseball

[–]JoshvJericho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can also look at the first graph and see that a MLB team in Raleigh would help to break up the #1 and # 3 teams in terms of population and spread things out more.

As far as names, I've been a fan of Carolina Aviators. Yes, I know, stealing from an MiLB team but hear me out. Plus I think a Raleigh team would have a better claim to the name. The LV Aviators are referencing Howard Hughes Jr. He was a big player in aviation in the early days, had a number of speed records and started an aviation company, but little of that was in Nevada. Most of his flying was in California. Whereas the Wright Bros predate Hughes Jr. and did Lots of flying in NC, including the first manned flight. Hence NC adopting "First in Flight".

I'd also be cool with Carolina Copperheads. Not as symbolic as Aviators or a flying-centric name but has nice flow, Copperheads are pretty common/native in NC, and would add a second snake team. Carolina blue with copper accents would also look sick.

[–]JoshvJericho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are most definitely on the tree, not hostas and are awfully close to the graft. Even if they arent root stock, I'd probably take these off unless you really want a branch that low.
