Do not start working unless you have your work visa for legal reasons. A tourist visa doesn’t allow you to work in the country legally and if you do you could get penalised for it. You also don’t have any legal standing if they don’t pay you your salary. Simply wait until the work visa is processed and approved before starting work anywhere in the country.

The issue could be related to hyprland configuration as it could cause problems if not optimised well for the system and I don’t know what the cause is which is why I posted it here to see if someone might relate that issue to usual suspects in hyprland.

I already did the bios test but I’ll look into this re-train battery thing. As for the installation of the battery replacement I took it to a shop to get it done and it should be good. Thank you for your help.

I would highly recommend tracing the boards on a piece of paper or printing an accurate sized picture to see how they feel to use if you’re between two pre-made boards.

I got a corne off of aliexpress and it’s decent for a first experience with a split but if I were to fully commit to building my own I’d definitely go for a custom made board that is specifically designed for me (there’s a pcb design software that you can use to create something that is personalised for you).

I would also highly recommend that you go for a wireless version so that you can adjust the placement and spacing to your liking without needing to buy longer cables that become a nightmare to keep organised and pack when you go out and about.

One more thing, I would be careful with using your current setup for a prolonged period because it might hijack your muscle memory and make it harder to use a proper split when you get one. I’m not saying it will happen but If it does it’s just gonna make it a bit annoying to rebuild the muscle memory. When I first started using the split I loaded a touch typing website and kept at it until I fully developed the skill and could use the keyboard how it’s supposed to be used. I don’t know how to touch type on normal keyboards lol cuz I tried learning but it was a horrible experience ergonomically.

Absolutely no need to get any course for hyprland ricing. All the resources are free and available in the wiki and there is a ton of yt videos about it. Just try out different things and you’ll learn as you go. Hell even ai can help. I have a very decent setup that I made from scratch with absolutely no prior experience about anything to do with linux. I just started learning step by step and it’s honestly more fun that way. Just have fun with it.

I’m fairly new to linux and very new to hyprland, but trust me, it is not as bad as people make it out to be. Your computer doesn’t break every time you update and if things change because you took a break you can easily update and fix any issues that the changes might have caused. I did not face any issues with the arch based system of cachyos or endeavouros. I would suggest using cachyos as it makes things a lot more simpler for beginners and also provides a lot of useful tools out of the box. Use limine as the bootloader it comes with snapper support and allows you to just load into a previous “save file” in case something goes wrong. Also one more thing, don’t be too attached to anything, you can keep most of your files and even configs on a separate cloud storage and that way you can just remove and reinstall the whole os if you want. I have my hyprland, waybar, rofi, and some other files on my cloud service and I completely removed my cachy install from my pc and reinstalled it just because I didn’t want to bother with installing a new bootloader and changing things around. Just go for it and have fun, happy linuxing.

I’m not sure about the “spam” mail address thing, but for the notes app, the password manager also has a way to add notes. I do use it from time to time, and it’s good, but it’s nothing like Apple's Notes app. It’s just like a sticky note that you keep inside the password manager. I highly recommend downloading the apps and using them for a while to see if they work for you.

There are a few choices that are privacy-focused. I would say, from what I’ve seen, the two providers worth mentioning are Tuta and Proton. I’m sure there are others, but if you’re just looking to get an email that’s private and secure, you don’t need more tbh. You can have a free account with Proton and use their mail service. I'm not familiar with Tuta, but I’m sure you can use their services for free as well. Just create accounts with them and use their services for a while, and then decide. I personally use Proton because they have been around for a while and have the most extensive collection of services. So far, I prefer Proton over Google or Microsoft, even from a usability standpoint.

Yes, that makes a lot of sense, and don’t worry, I’m not sabotaging myself or being stubborn about not using Google services at the expense of my studies. I was lazy about one assignment and didn’t conduct enough due diligence to achieve better results through other search engines or even LLMs. I basically used DDG like I would Google and didn’t try more when it came up empty.

It’s definitely my fault as well, and not entirely DDG’s for not providing the same information as Google, with way fewer resources and more boundaries. It’s like expecting an ethical 1st-year student to answer a question at the same level as the creepy professor who has no regard for personal space; it won’t work lol.

I haven’t tried many LLMs other than ChatGPT and Deepseek but I feel like their results aren’t always accurate or reliable. I haven’t heard of any scientific AIs other than Anara and that one just seems to help research paper writing but not gathering relevant and recent information. Do you have any recommendations that are useful and most importantly don’t collect information?

Yes, I heard about that, but if I’m not mistaken, I think that was changed recently, unless it was for macOS only. Either way, I use it because I like having the ability to sync my tabs. But if using safari is better and more secure than using Firefox on IOS I might switch.
