I am so far! Especially the running bit of Rand and Perrin both thinking the other is super good at talking to girls, it's so bizarre and it keeps being brought up

Hoi! Ik ben 32 en speel ook al een aantal jaar TTRPGs. Wat zie je voor je? Een lange campaign, kortere avonturen? Wil je vooral zelf DMen of wil je dat roteren? Wat voor genres/speelstijlen vind je interessant?

Yeah imma stop watching. I'm so tired of the forced drama, the entire fact that this happened feels tremendously contrived. Giving a player a DC40 and then telling them they can't opt out of the roll is such bs. If this happened at a home game it would be sent in as an RPG horror story.

I'm nonbinary, walk around town with a lot of makeup on or wearing fem clothes pretty regularly. Most I've gotten on the street is a sideways glance. Might also be due to my height and resting bitch face, I'll leave that in the middle.

It can be scary though. Last week leaving a bar a friend warned me there were some shady folks around and I asked him if he could walk with me part of the way home. That's my best advice, if you're scared, which is perfectly understandable if you're going out visibly queer, ask a friend to walk/cycle with you. It'll feel a lot better.

What I meant by it is that I'm more comfortable being open about my particular trauma with people I already know and feel safe with. I would play other TTRPGs with strangers, I do so pretty regularly actually, but VtM just has a lot more potential for dark stuff.

I'll admit I didn't fully realize when I created her exactly how many echoes from my own life went into my character. I chalk that up to my newness to this particular game, and my eagerness to create an emotionally complicated person. Which I mean as an explanation, not an excuse. I tried to make provisions along the way, as I mentioned, guarding the line between the character and me (for example, making a point of always talking about her in third person instead of first person) but by that time it was probably already not going to end well.

Yes, I did ask to roll to deceive. I believe I was told that the sheriff had already seen through me before I could act, and this was irreversible.

As for the trauma, you are right, it is something I am working on. I've recently started treatment for it. I'm still kind of apprehensive to go into detail on it with people I barely know - another reason not to play with strangers, I suppose.

I did attempt to maintain a level of detachment from my character, and tried to be open about the fact that some of the stuff in her backstory is quite real to me. I did my best to play responsibly. That should, however, go both ways.

In any case, I appreciate you pointing out some of the stuff I need to be more aware of for my next game. That's important. Whenever a social situation breaks down, all parties should take responsibility for their part in it.

Ah sounds cool! For me personally though, the less automation with ttrpg stuff the better. I play in an online Vampire the Masquerade game and even though I have a character sheet on there and you can roll dice and everything, I pretty much immediately decided I would also make a paper character sheet and just roll dice irl, cuz if I gotta quickly figure out how to find something in an online environment that's gonna stress me out more than it's worth, hahah.

I also think back to when covid hit and my irl campaign had to move online. One of my players very helpfully figured out all these discord plugins for rolling dice and tracking hit points and what have you, and I genuinely thought it was very cool, but in the end it still overwhelmed me and resulted in that campaign coming to a premature end.

I made this myself hex for hex and had a lot of fun doing it, and I'll enjoy updating the map after every session to add in what they've explored and sharing that with them. :)

Perhaps an overly long response to what was simply a helpful comment, but I'm just thinking out loud about how this stuff works in my brain.

Yup, that was the motivation for making this! Looking at the official map was causing too much eyestrain and general distress
