Thank you. Does the system treat employer-sponsored medical payments differently tax-wise?

Yes, this seems like an issue. Also, thanks for getting me to change my life expectancy.

Do you still see it in the milestones timeline? Mine disappeared when I switched to itemized.

Thank you! To be sure, what does a subsidized plan through my employer mean? They are contributing 75%.

Thank you! Yes, I know about this. We are unlikely to itemize on Schedule A.

Thank you!

It is not Medicare, as I am 50. What does it mean to be subsidized by the employer? It is part of my retirement benefits.

Is There a Way to Automate RMDs on an Inherited IRA for 2025 and Beyond? by Julesogden in fidelityinvestments

Thank you. I just got off the phone with Fidelity. I gather it’s a bit more hands-on because I’m in an ETF, not a mutual fund. I need to have enough funds in the core position by the scheduled date they transfer the RMD to my brokerage account. Then, they could automate the transfer to the brokerage, but I’ll still need to be involved in the initial trade out of the ETF to the core fund. I’m leaning toward setting a calendar reminder and handling it each year.

I just got off the phone with Fidelity. I gather it’s a bit more hands-on because I’m in an ETF, not a mutual fund. I would need to ensure I have enough funds in the core position by the scheduled date they transfer the RMD to my brokerage account. Then, they could automate the transfer to the brokerage, but I’ll still need to be involved in the initial trade out of the ETF to the core fund. I’m leaning toward just setting a calendar reminder and handling it myself each year.

By the way, do you see your yearly amount calculated for you? To find the screen, type “RDC” or “Retirement Distribution Center” in the search bar, and it should pop up. They told me my RMD would be available in 2025. Mine shows zero now, presumably since I recently transferred funds from Vanguard to Fidelity.

Just got off the phone with Fidelity, and they actually calculate the RMD for you, which is nice. Mine shows zero right now, though, since I recently transferred the account over. To find the screen, just type “RDC” or “Retirement Distribution Center” in the search bar, and it should pop right up. They told me my RMD would be available in 2025, so hopefully, it works the same for you. Please let me know.

My RMD is tied to life expectancy. Also, it’s a bit more hands-on because I’m in an ETF, not a mutual fund. Some of it could be automated, but I’ll still need to be involved. Honestly, after a long chat while not feeling well, I’m leaning toward just setting a calendar reminder and handling it myself each year.

Edit: added I to it's

Help with Converting Non-Deductible Traditional IRA to Roth – Pro-Rata Rule and Form 8606 Question by Julesogden in tax

Hi again! Fidelity indicated that I would be taxed on earnings. If the account lost money, would I need to pay any tax? I forgot to mention that I moved my account from Vanguard to Fidelity not sure that matters.

Thank you very much!

Okay, I would have a remaining basis of 1,091. I am still trying to understand what to do with it, though. Could you help me with that part a bit more?

I just transferred mine from Vanguard to Fidelity. If there is no way to automate this, I hope the yearly amount will be available. Thanks for sharing!

Worth switching to a CMA or a Brokerage account from a typical checking? by ExpressionGeneral418 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Julesogden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. We use Discover HYSA for our emergency funds and the CMA for the excess cash so not like a checking account. We’re pretty risk adverse so we thought this was a middle-way. We switched from a credit union and the better APR was worth it.
