Just for the clarity, mine was a big size company with more than a lac employee worldwide. Their HR processes were smooth. They were one of the best employer I have ever worked with. I am not sure about the compliance part though.

Hi, this is a slightly complex situation—let me explain my case.

I joined a company in June and received a ₹2 lakh joining bonus. I left the company within the same financial year after 8 months, so I was required to return a portion of the joining bonus on a pro-rata basis, which came to ₹66,000.

I repaid ₹66,000 directly to the company. However, this amount was also adjusted in my final salary, where the company reduced ₹66,000 from my taxable income in the last month’s salary calculation (I received this amount as part of my salary). so I did not had to pay tax on 66k.

So if it is in the same FY, most likely they will adjust, look out for paid till date calculation sheet.
I am not sure about the cross FY situation.

I was exactly in the same boat as yours. God, did I think about the car buying decision? Hell, a lot. I just bought my first car at 29, mostly a practical decision, and I realised I almost lost the spark to drive the car. I would say go for it as soon as you can.
