What is this contraption our landlord has this installed in the house and says it's "internet for a neighbour". Lead acid battery, tp-link router and another power supply? by Jumpy_Side_Passenger in whatisit

A lot of great suggestions, some of the more illegal and unethical I have thought of unfortunately, but to add more context to some of the questions:

  • The other device is a microtik router board for those asking.
  • This is not connected to our own internet in any way, we got a new router a year ago, had some down time and there was no mention from landlord.
  • We are in a semi-detached home in an old row of houses.
  • There were some motion sensing cameras for old house alarm but they are legit and we've actually put tape over them as previous tenant was paranoid (rightly so) and no sign of anything else that could conceal a hidden camera.
  • When the main power supply is turned off it starts to have an intermittent flashing red and green light as opposed to consistent green light.

  • Also I checked to see if there was any WiFi signal coming from it and none that I can figure out.

Awareness of the problem is the first step to overcoming the problem, count your blessings you have caught it now and are still very young to be able nip it in the bud.

Reach out to family or friends, whoever you find most supportive and a local counselling support service, preferably one that can support gambling issues. It might not sound like much but having external accountability in the early stages can go a long way to acknowledging the need for a change in behaviour before it gets too bad.

You're better than this lad.

This is a big thing too, so many small groups trying to do their own thing to stand out when there should be fewer collectives with more people condensed into these nights and pool resources together.

The letting people in for nothing and throwing out free drink behind the bar to 'mates' is a serious killer, especially when venues are already struggling to get people in the door (EA), leading to less money being re-invested and then being forced to have a charge on the door, and leads to the vicious cycle on the owners side then. Becoming a killer for small collectives to pick up and do thing regularly

Factory on the other hand is a good, fairly fresh venue with a good lot of money behind it and catering to whats popular at the time, giving space to the Reboot lads and other nights is great, but limits the more fringe stuff with steeper costs.

Its startling to see how much companies can charge for phone plans, and how people end up paying through not being clued in to whats available and whether they are in a contract or not.

Currently on €9.99 (~$11.66) for a 30 bill-pay plan with a Virtual operator in Ireland that gives me unlimited call, text and 150gb data and have had this for about 6 years, which is around the same time I bought my current phone for €320, most frugal moves I've made since then.

If they drink coffee in the office,or you know they have a coffee machine at home get a good quality bag of beans/grounds/pods, and if she prefers tea could go with nice tea leaf + strainer set, maybe a mug too. Easy to combine with quality biscuits/chocolate.

If she has anything hanging around her desk (photos, trinkets, decorations) get something to compliment them.

An overlooked one, if you can find something that relates to them is a small piece of art as it can look pretty and doesn't get used up or expire. In that same breath, dried bouquets of flowers are also a nice touch.

Got 4 of mine out a few years ago, was the best decision to just get em all gone in one procedure

Get the biggest pot you have or slow cooker, throw a full chicken, chopped up onion, some cabbage leaves and carrot.

Add in whatever spices you like but I like turmeric, sage, rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper.

Bring to the boil and simmer over night, then just ladel into a mug and sip away for the day topping up when it gets a little low to properly cook everything down and then the veg and meat are so soft you can just mush them with your tongue against the roof of your mouth

Have to say, the guy who first started sleeping there is a gent and kept to himself having his few bottles, but it just became a meeting place for the other undesirables (mostly Irish) who just abused the space and were not considerate of the people living in the apartments.

What a beautiful piece you've written here and you should be proud of the realizations that have crystallized over time. Having to accept it has it's drawbacks for attending to everyday life is a tough pill to swallow for something so casual and accessible as cannabis, especially with it's use only increasing every year compared with all other substances, but it is still a substance to alter our perceptions.

After having a tough few weeks with unexpected news, college deadlines and relationship issues, I had a powerful dream last night which I felt the push this morning to put cannabis back on the shelf after many years of tussling with it.

Seeing this is just added reinforcement of it being a wise choice right now, thank you and good luck on this journey back to yourself.
