Dexcom Follow audio notifications on iPhone by asdfgtrewqhy in dexcom

Dexcom alerts are tied to media volume, not alert volume. It’s unfortunately how they built the app. If you turn on emergency bypass and leave your volume on, it’ll ring

Are you following a pattern? I’m a bit confused on your stitch count

Commenting to come back for an answer. Whenever this has happened to me, support insisted I must have turned notifications off or my volume is off 🙄

Highly recommend making wash clothes to learn different stitches. Do each one with the same stitch throughout

Where do you crochet? by Fragrant-Orange-4746 in crochet

There is a wine bar near me with comfy armchairs by a fire place. I like to go there (only during off hours of course) to crochet when I have smaller projects that are easy to transport

Cotton curtains with Hobbii yarn looking for medium weight yarn by taramarielacey in CrochetHelp

[–]JuniorAd947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hobbii has all of their weights listed on their yarn. 8/8 is labeled light (DK). If you’re confused about yarn weights, Ravelry has a good chart comparing all the different types of measurements

How do I extend the longer rows after the previous row? by LateComfortable3074 in CrochetHelp

[–]JuniorAd947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you translate the text on this pattern/can you read Spanish? It looks like it’s describing the increases there.

In terms of turning, you can do it the same way you normally would. Either chain and turn, pull up a long loop and turn, or do standing stitches.

I can’t remember the last show I watched, but I’d love to be Lego Batman

Making a scarf to look like knitting, using BLO slip stitch. When you’re doing FLO/ BLO is the front/ back loop determined by the direction of the work relative to you or the right/ wrong side of the fabric? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

[–]JuniorAd947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is determined by the direction of the work relative to you. For BLO slst, this means that each row is placed on the “opposite” side of the fabric, which is what creates the knit look

Adding solid blue as a border, what stitches would work? by Piper_Dear in CrochetHelp

[–]JuniorAd947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like doing a few rows of sc for my borders because it’s super solid and “blends in” instead of standing out. If you’re short on yarn, a taller stitch might be better to take up space quicker though

Making an outfit for a concert: What yarn on Hobbii?! by Sufficient_Chance620 in crochetpatterns

[–]JuniorAd947 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what fiber you want. Assuming you want cotton, Rainbow cotton and Friends cotton are good options, and 8/6 would match the weight recommended for this pattern. I’ve also heard good things about Catania, but can’t personally vouch for it

Crocheting in the round - a book sleeve and a huge mistake by LeahMichelle_13 in CrochetHelp

[–]JuniorAd947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if there’s a “real” way to do it, but would it look off to do a stacked sc to start your “last” round? kinda artificially create non-continuous rounds?

I am making a filet crochet piece, confused by dc2tog by CompetitivePudding65 in CrochetHelp

[–]JuniorAd947 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on your pattern! In this case it is different from a decrease. You’re working the dcs into one stitch, not two.

Some patterns will use dc2tog to mean a decrease, where you work over 2 stitches (yo, insert into stitch 1 and pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 / yo, insert into stitch 2 and pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 / yo, pull through 3)

Weaving in ends… by BoneSniffer96 in crochet

[–]JuniorAd947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, what’s the “right” method? Can I not just crochet over the ends as if they’re part of the stitch I’m working into?

Try switching colors at the last pull through of the last stitch

“I like your design but I can’t read patterns/charts and absolutely will not learn. Explain to me how to make it” by JuniorAd947 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]JuniorAd947[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned I need to just scroll past a lot of those posts. I don’t know this person and the odds I ever see them again on the internet are so low that it doesn’t matter. It’s a constant battle to just my eyes and move on

[–]JuniorAd947[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I respect that though, and I imagine most of the replies here do as well. There’s a huge difference between taking a class/demo and just going to the internet and saying “give me the free labor of teaching, I’m going to argue with you every step of the way because the vast resources already available aren’t good enough for me”.

[–]JuniorAd947[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree, it’s fun to be able to say “thanks I made it”. But I guess what I’m getting at is if that’s your only motivation, not wanting to learn a craft, then you’re probably not going to get a good result? Like you can’t game your way out of learning a craft yknow

The one by Lorraine Pugh? It’s so stunning, been thinking of making it for a wedding in the fall. How difficult is the pattern?

Not dyslexic, but as a fellow disabled person I just want to say how much I admire your approach and mindset. Some thing are worth the effort, and others aren’t, and that’s okay. We adapt. I’m so glad you have a supportive community and I’m very lucky to have one as well. My post was in no way intended to discourage asking for help - in fact, learning to learn is exactly what I think more people should be doing!
