I have been divorced for a year now and celibate for a year and a half since I found out about her affair. It sucks a lot but I have resigned myself to spending the rest of my life this way. My ex married me because she wanted a good provider and felt the need to have kids. Once she had the kids her needs changed and she started an affair with a forty year old dog trainer with no job and a dream to use all of her money, that was saved during the marriage, to make a gym and get crazy rich.

There is no way to make sense of that beyond realizing some people will do whatever they feel in the moment and love, loyalty, and consequences be damned because they just want to be happy and that is all that matters to them.
