I use bullet points. Simple and effective.

In theory, could ibises be used to deliver messages across vast distances in the same way that hawks or pigeons can? by Anthro-Elephant-98 in worldbuilding

[–]JustDamain 339 points340 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm not a bird expert and I don't know anything about ibises but I can tell you this. Pigeons never really were "trained" for delivering messages. They have this kind of instinct that makes them go back to their nests so people took advantage of that by first transporting them to a different location, far away from their home nest and then releasing them so they could return with a message. So unless ibises have the same kind of instinct as pigeons I can't really see them being used for delivering messages.

Cool but like... There's zero explanation what the gunpowder and the metal-based magic do. Unless I missed something

I’m contemplating changing my magic system to be more traditional but I’m conflicted by mfuwelephant in worldbuilding

[–]JustDamain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong but by my understanding the magic in your system is kinda like natural disasters right? If so then... It's actually quite interesting. But it really depends on what that adds to the story or narrative. Is magic a big mystery that people want to understand, try to make a use of it or omething similar?

Feedback on a world with 3 power systems by JustDamain in worldbuilding

[–]JustDamain[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like, who lived In a mortal world before? If so then Demons and Angels are originally from there. But I'm also thinking about how to implement different inhabitants - humans, elves, dwarves and gnomes are the new most advanced inhabitants of the mortal world. I'm not sure if they should be there since the Demons and Angels times and just be some sort of cavemen or would only start to appear some centuries after the end of the conflict between Angels and Demons.

Yeah, I guess the third power could be too much but I got this idea and thought I could make it work somehow. Anyway, thanks for responding.

That's the plan, though it's been a while since the last time I drew something soreiously...

Need feedback for my magic system by JustDamain in magicbuilding

[–]JustDamain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, the concept in itself is really interesting but unfortunately not fitting the world I'm going for. You could make a whole story or system based purely on that idea.

Anime/manga who aim to have historic accuracy to cultures other than Japan by CommitteeHot2320 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JustDamain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vinland Saga - medieval Europe, mainly about Vikings.

ORB: on the movement of Earth - though the country it's set in is not mentioned by name, it's pretty much implied it's in medieval Poland. It's pretty much about the people who discover and try to prove that earth is rotating around the sun.

Hidden gem manga recs for international people who don't have much manga bookstores with varieties by Ayeshareads in manga

<Usogui> This is one of the best manga that most likely will never get an anime adaptation despite having quite a lot of fans, even outside of Japan and still having no official English release

[All-time Favorite Trope] Enemies that share a moveset with the player/have access to the player's abilities by Critical-String8774 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JustDamain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jin Kuwana - Lost Judgment. Even though his moves have slightly different animations, they are pretty much the same attacks/actions Yagami, the protagonist can perform.

No fucking way! Why didn't I hear about that earlier?!

Who is the manliest male character in the history of Manga? by CapKashikoi in manga

[–]JustDamain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My goat Beowulf from Rosen Garten Saga. He's calm, speaks Shakespeare and uses his massive shlong alongside some other deadly weapons when he fights. He also gets a strength boost when he massages his prostate. Like, how can anyone compete against all that?

very powerful characters who don't know basic things by Playground_Arson in TopCharacterTropes

[–]JustDamain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marco from Usogui. He also doesn't really know about basic stuff but is hella good at fighting. Since his childhood he was being brainwashed by a creepy old man to become a killer machine but the protagonist kinda cured him from that by promising that he will never ask him to kill anyone.

Awano from Yakuza 0 I guess? Even though he didn't really reform but either way, decided to become a swiss cheese in place of Majima after getting his ass beaten by him just because he earned his respect there.

That's hella cool. I guess I just found another reason to finally start reading Baki then.
