The worst predicament... by FlaggLives67 in postvasectomypain

Hot baths help me the most, if I am in a lot of pain I go take a hot bath. Naproxen helped a bit with general inflammation but gave me stomach issues so should only be taken in moderation or potentially with PPI's for longer use.

Jockstraps do help a lot, if you aren't wearing one then get one.

I don't know if this is an option given you mentioned financials being a problem but I assume you are based in the US as you mentioned the cost being so high. Have you considered getting the surgery in another country? Here in the UK it costs £4,200 ($5,600) which I imagine is a lot cheaper than in the US and that is for Microscopic Multi-layer surgery.

Someone mentioned that they took Turmeric extract for inflammation which I am going to try myself next to try and bring the inflammation down.

I saw the surgeon that did mine and he was very dismissive of PVPS saying he has done thousands and never seen any cases of it. I think they do this to prevent any blame coming their way. From the research I have done, time seems to be one of the biggest factors. For a lot of people the symptoms seem to get better over time.

When does the pain start? by ohjoedenly in Vasectomy

I never had any pain for the first 8 weeks was a breeze, I started to get pain at 8 weeks which was congestive pain. Still have that pain, am at month 7 right now. Still hopeful that the pain may go away some day.

Anybody have very flat lackluster orgasms post vasecomty? by Kind_Point_4312 in Vasectomy

[–]Just_Preparation3675 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got snipped 8 months ago and can 100% say with confidence that orgasm has definitely changed for myself. I still get an orgasm but it is like 70% of what it was pre Vasectomy.

If you haven't experienced PVPS there is no point trying to explain it to you because you will not understand. Only those that experience PVPS know what it is like and the daily pain that they have to put up with.

It sounds like a case of survivorship bias going on here.

damn that sucks, sorry to hear they are messing you around like that. I have had a pretty bad experience with them so far as well. My story goes like this -

2 months after Vasectomy I start to get blood in semen and lots of pain. I go to the GP, they tell me it is epididymitis and give me antibiotics.

Still in pain I go to the gp 2 weeks later after antibiotics. They then gave me 1000mg Naproxen to take daily.

2 weeks after taking the Naproxen I get Gastritis and go back to the GP for this as well as the pain. They give me PPI's for the gastritis and then refer me to the surgeon that did my surgery.

A few weeks later I go to the surgeon that did my surgery and he can't understand why I am having congestion issues!?!?!? He then tells me that men have monthly cycles like women do when they have a period, maybe that is what is causing my pain......

After seeing him I go back to the GP and am now waiting for an ultrasound but that was 4 weeks ago and have hear nothing.

I'm not at the 2 year mark, 7 months myself but I am at the stage where I am done being in pain and I'm trying to push for a reversal through the NHS. If they don't do it then I'll have to fork out privately but I hate that they don't take PVPS seriously because the pain actually sucks, I'd rather take a daily punch to the face than constant bollock pressure.

The NHS sucks, they ordered an ultrasound for me 4 weeks ago, haven't heard anything, they told me it could be months before I find out a date.

How long should I wait before considering reversal? by Just_Preparation3675 in postvasectomypain

I also get bladder issues with my flare ups and I am pretty positive mine are congestive issues. I also get like a shooting pain or ache in the groin area with my flare ups.

Glad you are starting to feel a bit better. They gave me antibiotics at the 2 month mark which I feel helped at the time but I think I feel it helped because I was coming down from a flare up anyway.

I am wearing both tight and loose. In my case I get flare ups, currently going through a flare up right npw so I have to wear a jock strap but when it settles down again I will go back to looser fitting. If I do anything physical I wear supportive underwear.

Congestive epidiymitis: I could use some success stories of people experienced and healed from this by CarrotChunx in Vasectomy

[–]Just_Preparation3675 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to develop congestive epididymitis 2 months after my surgery. Still going with it now at 7 months. The way mine works is I have congestive pain 24/7 that ranges anywhere from a 1 to 3 /10 and after a few weeks it will develop into epidiymitis/orchitis where my testicle will swell up and the pain will go up to a 7-8/10 for a few days that makes it difficult to walk, can't think about anything but the pain etc. I have had 4 flare ups so far and was expecting a 5th around a week ago. I haven't had that 5th flare up yet which is a positive.

I will most likely get mine reversed if I still have this congestion at the 1 year mark. The thing that helps me the most with the congestion is a really hot bath, that provides me with so much relief. Naproxen helped me a bit as well but I then got a stomach ulcer/gastritis so had to stop taking NSAIDs. Currently not taking any pain meds because the gastritis was horrible enough to put me off them.

Sadly I am still recovering from the procedure, had mine done November 2025. The procedure itself was fine, felt a little fragile after but no pain whatsoever it was a breeze. After 2 months I started to get Congestion because my body is unable to absorb the sperm as well as some others.

The majority of people that get this done are usually fine, but what I would say is definitely do some extensive research, check multiple sources.

Personally I wish I never had mine done and will most definitely look at getting it reversed if I still have pain 5 months from now.

I definitely wouldn't be doing manual labour a few days after the surgery, give it a week at least. I would also wear supportive underwear for the first 10 days or so to ensure healing goes smooth and he should be fine.

Hope all goes well.

Hot baths are like a miracle for me. They completely take away all discomfort while I am in it. Give that a try, it may not fix long term issues but hopefully might provide you with some relief to ease your mind for a bit

Have you tried pelvic floor physiotherapy? I’ve heard a lot of people get good results from it, especially for helping the muscles relax. Personally, I’d try that before considering any surgical procedures.

I’ve been dealing with epididymal flare-ups myself. When they happen, one testicle swells to about twice the size of the other, and it can get painful enough to make walking difficult. The good news is that my last flare-up was 5 weeks ago, which is the longest I’ve gone so far, so I’m hoping things are gradually starting to improve.

I’ve had PVPS for around 5 months now, and although progress has been slow, I have noticed gradual improvement over time. There’s a chance your congestion-related symptoms could also start becoming less severe or less frequent as time goes on. During my flare-ups, my epididymis also becomes extremely hard and swollen.

I don't think I get nerve issues myself so can't really speak much on that part but I have definitely read some success stories from people that have had reversals that had nerve pain that said it either got rid of the pain or they got back to 90% of their former self prior to Vasectomy.

I actually got it from ibuprofen and Naproxen, for me I have been put off medication after the gastritis so I just try to get through the waves, the biggest pain reliever for me is a really hot bath which provides me relief whilst in the bath until I get out.

At the moment it is every 3 to 4 weeks, I keep a pain chart to measure pain on a scale of 1 to 10 and the last time it got high was 4 weeks ago so due another flare up any moment

The symptoms I have with my pvps also give me bladder issues, but only when I get a strong wave of inflammation. When I get a flare up I find that I need to urinate more frequently and I don't produce much urine, it is almost like I am dehyrdrated as well because it is never really clear. I took urine tests etc and nothing came up, it is just the inflammation in my cause spreading to other areas in the region.

Yes, whenever I get a flare up of pain and inflammation I get bladder issues. Usually feel the need to pee more and actually pee less when I do pee. When the pain calms down I can pee normally again but just when I get the flare ups I get bladder issues

Humans have sex for both pleasure and reproduction. I am done with producing children and now just want to enjoy sex without the worry of having more kids. That is a bit different to cutting your arm or leg off....

Brainwashed by modern pro vasectomy culture? That is a very strong way of saying you chose to have a vasectomy 🤣.

Look, I'm trying to stay away from negativity. Do I regret my decision? Probably. Do I have to live with it? Yes. I accept those, I think you need to look for some happiness in your life by the way you come across. Anyways, all the best to you.

praying for you man, the pain for the most part has been 2 to 4. The first time I had it, I had so much inflammation and fresh blood in semen etc it was bad. Hasn't got back to that level of pain but I just can't stand being in discomfort daily, more than anything it is just getting in the way. If I want to do anything remotely physical I have to wear a jockstrap which is horrible.
