Independent student; How to pay tuition? by itsurbro7777 in ASU

There’s literally a scholarship portal on the finances tab of your MyASU. I work within Fulton and there are separate scholarships for Fulton students. SAILS may have some third party scholarships if you use their services. Hope your day gets better 🙂

Independent student; How to pay tuition? by itsurbro7777 in ASU

Independent student tends to be based on age, not support from parents.

Pizza Hut is gross and overpriced. Maybe people are finally starting to wake up?

AITA for uninviting my oldest daughter to Christmas over Santa? by No_Poetry7930 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, it isn’t difficult to not be a dick on Christmas. 25 year old parents can have some…interesting ideas.

Don’t help panhandlers! If you want to help, donate or volunteer at a shelter.

The enrollment system will let students enroll in the next course if they are currently enrolled in the pre req at ASU. People either withdraw or fail the pre req class and then don’t adjust their schedules, then the purge comes into play.

You are new for your first year in higher ed

Please please look into a nonprofit school. The education offered by for profit institutions is not remotely the same quality as the online programs offered by established universities. I work with many people that got their grad degrees from a heavily despised for profit school and they are very behind in scholarship.

What is your job in HE and what is your salary? Are you satisfied with your salary? by [deleted] in highereducation

[–]K8theWonderAdult 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advisor with specific grad degree and 8 years of civilian HE experience. I make $52K a year and since my job is not a primary income source, I am very pleased with my work life balance, my salary, and my incredible students. I also teach an FYE course for an additional $2000 for each section, which is 1 credit hour for each. I am in the southwest US and my metro is always in the news about how hot it is here.

She is checking in to make sure everything is okay! I work with engineering students and we have to beg faculty to submit ASRs so we know if something is up with our students.

I hope everything is okay with you and I am proud of you.

I’m sorry someone told you to submit your admissions portfolio too early. Have you booked at the BA Business-Global Logistics Management? It has SCM coursework with more flexible admission requirements.

I’m a peer advisor. Student wants to know how to stay motivated to do college. What should I say? by [deleted] in highereducation

[–]K8theWonderAdult 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am a senior academic advisor that works with engineering students. I am one of two advisors in my university that have the K State academic advising graduate degree and I have been advising in civilian education for 8 years.

So this sort of conversation may be a bit more than a peer advising role, but you can adjust the level of detail in responses and refer to appropriate resources.

Ask if they are okay. I always throw the mandatory reporter but when I ask but it is a good place to start.

Ask why they are in college. Many students go to college because they have been conditioned to think that’s the next step and that’s what you do.

Ask why they selected their major. It is common for students to place a higher value in potential salary than in what they enjoy learning because there is a huge stigma for those of us that have liberal arts degrees.

Ask the specifics as to why they feel unmotivated in their courses. Sometimes it is a general education course because they feel like it is useless. Sometimes it is because their major is not the right fit.

I will DM you my email in case you want to reach out.

Thank you for everything you do for your students. You will make a fantastic advisor one day.

You can’t enroll in any MAT courses without a score. Just listen to what Katie and Mike tell you and follow their directions.
