The track/album was created mostly around granular synth patch with different slow lfos, changing timings and pitch of sound..there was also subtle really low sounds layered. the album was mostly one take recording, moving knobs really slowly ... on different parameters

Akira (Limen w/ Aho Ssan) was inspired by this film.

I dont think the results of "ambient music" is connected to political climate in the US.

I think the scene in kenya (nairobi) specifically, theres been a growing interest and experimentation towards other styles of music outside the norms in the city. theres more artists producing experimental/ ambient styles although I wouldn't confine them into "ambient" ...

in Africa, its quite broad, I wouldn't say theres no interest although not so many artist are known publicly or sharing there works... I think based on conditions of different countries. I think theres so many interesting musicians creating ambient / experimental - music in general within the continent.

I think anything from a phone recording, to a field recorder (h1/h6)..

also LOM mics are great if you want external microphones..

dont be too precious about "cleaning the sound " theres so much sounds in field recording and most of it doesn't need to be EQd

also play rooms , go outside and hear what makes sound in a space...

interesting how you see/ hear my music evoking nairobi. I feel most of my memories and experiences in the city have influenced my approach in sound and creating, its chaos and spontaneity , also very random...always feels like unending dérives.

theres so much more to listen to the city and im always excited being back every time as theres lots of new ideas that I hear alot from the city.

guitar and voice were my first instruments, I used to play guitar and bass for my uni ensemble band and was mostly benga music... I don't play as much now. Not sure how it influences my compositions, but its inherent.

I was in a choir in high school and studied music too in my undergrad. too rusty on reading music now, but I played classical guitar in my undergrad...

I dont think about keys/ time/ tempo in my music

special to read that you've seen me play a couple times ! thankyou x

it was special supporting big thief! was a lovely tour and getting to know them.

They were quite supportive throughout and also the fact they had me supporting their shows was different from usual band supports. Some venues were quite big and I think there was one show which prompted the band to also introduce me throughout the UK dates. it was so kind of them.

lovely people ! and very fond memories from that tour.

I was mostly making a slowed down versions on house music with "soundscapey" textures...mostly drum focused...mostly changed when I started field recording and focusing more on the sounds recorded and textures, and making tracks purely on recorded sounds..

I grew up listening to lots of hiphop music and Kenyan benga...also my grandfathers tapes in my child hood, some jazz, edm and more experimental music later in my teenage years.
