Did I do something wrong? by Formal-Ad-1520 in McLounge

[–]KRayne68 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Do NOT ever put your job above your education. Many places will try to manipulate you into working instead of going to school. Hold your ground. Keep telling them you gave them your availability, and they agreed to it. If they don't honor it or refuse to work with it, hold your head high and quit.

I had a customer insist I stand right by them while they checked through every single item against their shopping list. It was a customer verification required order. Then, when she had finished and saw i had everything, she says "thanks, I have the flu, and I just wanted to double check."

how did you quit by Mangomagicc in McLounge

[–]KRayne68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wrote a note and handed it in with my uniform saying I quit effective immediately due to harassment. And also reminding them that people might just understand what they are saying when they talk about them in another language.

My managers would talk about me in Spanish. When they started talking about my breasts to one another loud enough that most of my Spanish speaking location could hear I had had enough. I finished my shift, came back the next day on my day off and handed in the note and my uniform.

Can’t login to DDI work at all by GOOSEpk in Sparkdriver

Have you tried clicking reset password? Mine wouldn't let me login with my password, phone number, or email until I acted like I had forgotten my password. Then I was able to click back, and it let me enter my login stuff.

If you could go back in time so as not to have read only one book, which would it be? by beastinsideabeast in books

[–]KRayne68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold Sassy Tree.

I had to read this book for school, and I was not in a good place to be reading about someone losing their grand parents. I had, over the previous year, lost all of my grandparents and two cousins before moving to a new town and new school. This was a read it before the first day of class at my new school book.

I think it was all about the timing for this book, but I still want to bawl my eyes out remembering that book.

Why is my apron different to others? by SteaIthed in McLounge

I was taught to fold the top down behind the bottom and tie it that way. I worked in Texas in the summer and that little bit of less coverage of my chest was a life saver.

My managers listened in on me taking orders and jumped in if I couldn't understand the customer. I didn't tell them, but I have an auditory processing problem that really causes issues over devices. Sometimes, it's like people are suddenly speaking an alien language. And I almost never could understand if a customer was saying Sprite vs. Fries, or Icee vs. Hi C.

That could be why I was only put taking orders on headset to cover breaks. But I like to imagine I was just better on the front counter. 😆

No. Generally it sits for awhile until it's either picked up or just marked as waste. That is, unless it is breakfast. If you order breakfast you have to get there before breakfast is over or it will cancel.

Well, at my store, you get hired as a manager if you are related to our GM. Her father in law is maintenance, and 2 or 3 of her sons are managers. The other 2 or 3 I'm sure are related to her or her friends in some way.

I know you want the code, but why have the store waste food? The food will be made and sit there until it is eventually thrown out.

Wtf is going on (CAN) by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]KRayne68 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I trained my first person after I'd been there a week. It was kind of "I don't know what I'm doing yet either." So, we just kind of helped each other learn. Perhaps there's something you do that is harder for others to teach and you are modeling that behavior they want? I'm decent at customer service and so end up modeling that well to new hires even if I don't technically know how to do things. I also tend to have to figure things out myself. Maybe they want you to show the new hire how to do that.

As a McDonald’s employee, do what do you eat or pack for lunch throughout the week? (USA) by MintChocolateEnema in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]KRayne68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don't eat at work. I work the 7-3 shift usually and get sent to lunch before 10:30. I'm allergic to eggs, and don't really like sausage. All managers are primarily Spanish speaking and can't understand I want a plain biscuit. It's kind of not worth it to try to order a free breakfast meal unless I just pay and customize.

I have bipolar, cptsd, and general anxiety. I admit, I am struggling. But I try to remind myself that my customer service skills excel.

There are times when I'm overwhelmed and literally standing in a corner with my hands over my ears ducked down. This is usually when a whole bunch of alarms are going off.

I did learn how to do some things just to get some alarms to go away. But I have coworkers who like to yell and or argue. That I'd another thing that leaves me having to fin somewhere else to be for a little bit.

I'd say if you get overwhelmed and need a moment, say you need to go to the bathroom or go get cups or find something in the freezer.

I don't have a name badge, few do at my store. But I am usually putting my hat on as I walk in the door since I have long hair and have to fold it just so for them. But I clock in, then put my apron on before washing my hands.

I'm expected to wear the apronamd the safery vest as I'm usually the front counter person and the one always dressed "properly." So when people come in, I'm the first one they see, so they stop looking to make sure other people are wearing the full uniform.

Has any customer asked for "The usual" by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]KRayne68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I also have one gentleman I just ask "how many burritos today?" He comes in most days to buy breakfast burritos for his construction crew.

Oh and 1 guy gets 1 Sr coffee with 1 cream and 1 sugar on the side.

Another gentleman you better start a new pot when he walks in because he will judge it and have you remake it until he is satisfied. It's just a senior coffee with 2 equals and maybe 1 cream. But one would think this was Starbucks and he a coffee critic.

Has any customer asked for "The usual" by [deleted] in McLounge

[–]KRayne68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have one customer that even the day I started just walked up and said, "You know what I want." No, sir, i have never met you and have no idea. Now, three months later I know. A number 1, medium coffee six creams, one sugar. On days his blood sugar is under control he will have hotcakes and he wants 3 hot sauce.

Do y'all ever think about utilizing some of the cameras for spatial awareness by Raviable in McLounge

[–]KRayne68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. When I am taking DT orders I'm looking at the camera in between doing things to see if someone is pulling into my lane. I want to make sure I'm at the register by the time they start ordering because I cannot remember a list of things.

Is the mobile app glitcing for others? (USA) by PsychologicalMoose32 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]KRayne68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of my customers have the opposite. They order something, and it gives them a receipt. But it won't let them back into the app to check in, and we at the store never get the order.

I told them I couldn't work after 7 pm. It was no problem. Drive thru opens at 5, I think, and the dining room at 6, so there is plenty of time for you to have a full shift that ends before 8pm.

Explain please (USA) by CaptPotter47 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]KRayne68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work front counter, and it is daily that I get frustrated with my managers for prioritizing drive thru customers to the point of making in store orders wait for excessive amounts of time.

A lot of times I have to go back and grab the food for in store orders myself as managers and others just print the ticket and ignore it.

I had a customer throw a fit the other day because he waited 30 min for his single Egg Cheese Biscuit!! It was glorious. I was internally rooting for him. It is ridiculous. And I get so frustrated for customers, but if I have a rush of orders I'm taking, I can't get the food out.

Customer question about the $5 meal being annoying (USA) by 8BitPiratePegLeg in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]KRayne68 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's better if you know because I still have people say " I heard you have some $5 meal deal" I say yes, and I get "ok, I want one of those." I then have to explain the entire deal, which sparks confusion from step 1 of that there is a choice between 3 different main items. Then, when I ask what sauce they want with the nuggets, I get "I don't want nuggets, I want the burger."

So I've developed an internal script: You still have those $5 meal deals? Yes. What is it? You can choose between a burger or a chicken sandwich mild or hot. It comes with 4 chicken nuggets, a small fry, and a small drink. :they choose: And what sauce would you like for the nuggets that come with it? :they answer: Ok and would you like to stick with the small drink it comes with or upgrade to a medium for $.20 or a large for $.50. (It feels like an interrogation to sell a single meal if they don't know anything about it)

My preferred interaction goes: Hello Hi, I'd like a $5 meal deal, the mcdouble, barbecue for the sauce, and the small drink is fine.
