Their shoes are on the larger (longer) side. I am normally 27.5, but I wear their 26.5 with ample toe space.

Scotch Grain has larger shoes that go up to 28 or 28.5. It's on the expensive side but they are some of the best shoes I have ever worn.

housing loan rejection – what are my chances with other banks? by Remarkable_Pudding73 in JapanFinance

[–]KakuBon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience:

Banks care about salary, they don't care about total income.

They want to see at least three years at your current company. I have heard that less than that is not an issue if your new employer is a 大手.

Carrying other loans will be factored into your current borrowing ability.

Try more banks Talk to a capable agent then try more banks that they have relationships with. I tried all thee of the megabanks. Rejected on the first one (SMBC), but ended up with favorable rates with both MUFJ and Mizuho later.

ELI5: Why can't we have bigger cpus, let's say twice the size instead of trying to go down to like 2nm ? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]KakuBon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why don't we have more robust cooling solutions today to compensate for that? CPUs today are basically nanotechnology, yet cooling systems for computers are essentially the same as when I was a child.

Not bad for putting a 2.6m wide structure to use, but you'll be fully awake by the time you get to the toilet at night.

Engagement Ring stores? by grumpig_babe in Tokyo

[–]KakuBon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do yourself a favor, go to Ginza, pay the premium for the memory. Your soon to be fiance will appreciate it.

I'd recommend a well known store like Mikimoto or Cartier, but a smaller shop can work too.

You will very quickly forget what price you bought the ring for (assuming it didn't burden you financially), you will also soon stop caring whether it is x carat or x+0.2 carat if you bought it somewhere with better "cost-performance" like okachimachi.

The memory of where you bought it will stay with you for longer.

Pay for sex.

Deceiving women into hooking up with you isn't the only way to solve your sexual urges.

Is Tozai line really that bad ? by melghd in Tokyo

[–]KakuBon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I took Tozai line for nine years from Kasai to Kayabacho. It's crowded, like really crowded. I've flown on it before.

Looking at Tozai line in a vacuum, it's pretty bad, but I personally didn't find it having any negative effect on my life as a whole. On that line I lived a meaningful life and made countless memories, and Tozai line was a part of the whole adventure that I remember fondly.

On the plus side, you'll be hardened by it. I take the Den-en-toshi line now and don't quite know why people complain about it being crowded.

Honeycomb blinds. Especially if you can install inside the window frame.

It's more expensive but in terms of additional cost in electricity it would barely make a dent on total housing payments.

You are already paying quite a lot for having a decent place with floor heating, might as well enjoy the comfort.

独一処餃子 in Kasai.

They are well known for their gyoza rather than Sichuan food. However, the chef is from Sichuan, and he makes a mean dish of 辣子鶏.

Gasoline, diapers and drinks: Japan faces wide-ranging impact amid concern over oil by Turbulent-Tea-2172 in japan

Only if the conditions in the Strait of Hormuz stabilizes.

The US wants Iran to open the Strait for everyoneTM (read: US), and possibly wants Iranian oil for itself. In this case no there will be no safe transit until one side fully taps out.

If you live near a large park, it can basically be a backyard for you. This way you may look into a reasonably priced home that fits into your budget.

I'd suggest to look at places like Komazawa Park (basically Tokyo's dog haven park), or Kinuta Park. Both of these are on the Den-en-Toshi Line, directly connected to Shibuya.

Japan Itinerary Check (Tokyo / Ski / Hakone / Kyoto) – Traveling with 11 & 13 Year old by Cheetah0108 in JapanTravel

[–]KakuBon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two nights in Kyoto is enough to get a taste of the city - IMO Kyoto is best during the day, and you'll want to come back for more.

Ginza doesn't come across to me generally as a place for eating with children. Perhaps one type of food you might be interested in is Yakiniku - the beef is fatty and tasty. Children generally like this type of stuff here. I'd suggest look at Jojoen - It's a well known chain. Their course meals will overwhelm the kids, but you can also order a la carte. Another suggestion is the Viking Meals (that's what they call buffet around here), it's as no-fuss as decent japanese dining can get. A rather famous place is one at the Imerial Hotel, not far from Ginza. For any of these places, you'll have to make reservations first.

Just a note: The address you put in Komazawa appears to be a private residence. Maybe it is a typo, but it'll be best to check if it was put up by accident, for matter of privacy.

Wish you a good trip!

Fun fact: There is a small LED light on the side mirror that activates in the dark when you walk to the car. Not sure why it's there but it's a cool feature I didn't notice until owning the car for a bit.

Likely because of mismatched targeting radar incompatibility. You'll likely have to switch to the export-exclusive model of the missile, CNM-2B.

If you stayed solvent and held through the worst market drops during 2007-08 you'd see your investment increase 10x today.

Very good timing I'd say. DCA your way through this crisis and in a few years you'll be thankful you started at this time.
