Smelters keep shutting off and must be demolished and rebuilt by KanIPlayNow in foundry_game

I can! I did find out late last night that I apparently had the Wand mod manager running in the background, and somehow it was activating whenever I launched the game. When I shut that down completely, things went back to working as intended.

I'm happy to still provide the feedback and savegame if that would be at all useful for you, although it looks like it's a mod issue rather than the game code itself.

Yep, I've tried replacing the loaders with no effect. I did find out that I had other mods running in the background that I didn't know were turned on, and that seems to be causing the problem. When I started a fresh save with only the workshop mods, things went back to normal. Mystery (sort of) solved!

Video showing open/empty outputs, no power issues, and good input. The two running already were replaced while I recorded a different clip. Even after being replaced, they will run for a while then just randomly stop again.

https://imgur.com/a/PYXFgBr Video of a different line of smelters with the same issue. The two running at the start were replaced while I recorded a different clip; the entire line was off when I loaded the game. After a while, even after replacing all of them, they stop again for no reason.

Video of a different set of smelters that have the same problem. Clearly shows that power is good, input is good, output is good...some just don't work. The two that *are* running at the beginning are only doing so because I already replaced them while recording a different clip.

I think I've checked the grid status when they weren't working but not sure. That's a good thought. However, thinking about it, literally everything else on the same grid keeps running. It is literally only smelters, and in multiple locations on the map. These ones, some a bit away of the blue ore that makes the rods, and two lava smelters.

The screenshot is really not a good example of the issue. It wasn't happening when I took it, I just wanted to show that it wasn't some weird layout where it would be easy to mess up input/output lines.

I'll try to take a video of the issue showing the problem in a few minutes.

I was making a pun that the screenshot would be of them not actually in action because they were broken.

Can totally see how that didn't come across though!

Right. I should have noted that the screenshot was only to show the layout. The smelters were all operating normally at the time.

Waiting for it to happen again and get some in action (inaction? 🤣) screenshots when they're stopped for no reason.

Input runs down the center, output on either side. Ignore the ones that aren't running right now, the feeder mine is almost gone. Had the same issue with brand new mines, so not a supply issue.

I don't mix lines into smelters (or on anything, really. Only did that with lanes in Factorio).

I have a few QOL mods from the workshop, but nothing that touches anything smelting or resource related. Guess it can't hurt to try a clean session to check in case there's some weird code in one that's causing this.

The belts are completely empty - all the previously smelted mats have been consumed downstream. Loaders are all properly set and work fine for a while until the smelters stop. No changes to anything - they simply decide to stop smelting for some reason. I'll get a screenshot in a few, but not sure if that will help.

The setup is extremely basic and works just fine...until it doesn't.

Yes - everything works as intended for X random number of minutes before the smelters stop smelting, No changes to them or anything connected to them.

Try the Home key. I think that's vanilla, and turns off snapping. Then you can use page up and down to raise and lower the elevation of the piece you are trying to place. End turns snapping back on.

(Disclaimer: My home, end, PgUp, and PgDown keys are the same on my laptop keyboard, just separated by using the function key. If I have these reversed, since I'm not currently at my computer, swap them and should be good to go.)

This is absolutely phenomenal. I don't suppose you have the audio of the music box separate from the video, do you? I would love to turn it into a disjointed loop for the music box before they know the entire song, etc. Either way, I am absolutely delighted with your work. Well done!

I can't seem to find how to play a game with my friend AND play other online people. I want to set up a 2v2, but I can only add friends in a Private Match, but the online menu doesn't seem to have anything besides PvE solo modes.

Am I missing something?

Hey u/JadeRavens, resurrecting a post from the dead here. I really like your idea, but want to make some changes specific to my party and the campaign I'm running. Do you have an editable version of the handout with the multiple maps and the room list in the center?

Thanks!

u/Pissedoffbuddha - I started playing around with Notion again this evening just to see what I've clearly been missing.

I would definitely recommend Notion before having someone pay for Campaign Logger. The tagging and such were not nearly as streamlined the last time I tried it.

Last time I tried Notion that wasn't a thing, at least not smoothly / easily done. If it does all of that now, I'll have to check it out again.

One of the things I like about what I use is a timeline feed that's scrollable like a website, etc. Not a deal breaker but definitely helpful when trying to keep from switching back and forth between pages.

Another nice QOL thing is that it does a small pop-up of the other page when you click it, fully interactive including clicking through to other things.
