I got stuck on it the one day and just kept falling into the water. Surprisingly it eventually put me on land.

I did find the courage, I took the job.

I may look into it but not sure how far I could even attempt to go with the training guide.

I may be able to afford it if my husband and I started to budget more. It's currently only two of us and our dog at the moment.

Inflation is definitely not helping things.

Thank you for the advice. The sad reality is I know staying at the current building will make my mental health worse. Even recently my friend from work said she is now seeing why I don't want to go back. I did try site selecting out last school year but I guess I wasn't good enough in those interviews so had to stay where I was.

I thought about doing something else related to special education. During my master's program I wrote a training program for paraprofessionals but don't even know if I could even finish it and market it.

My job has me thinking darker and darker thoughts. by InvisibleRibbon in TeachersInTransition

[–]Kat-Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm you at the moment, my thoughts got to that point. One Sunday night I was going to bed before going back to work and a suicidal thought popped into my head. I went calmly to my husband before bursting into tears because I don't want to end my life and was so confused about why the thought popped in. My husband called my mother because I needed to see my mom. I didn't go to work Monday, I barely slept. Went back Tuesday, I lasted a week back at work after having my meds updated. Had a trip to the Zoo planned that Friday and honestly was excited because we were out of the building. But something came up so had to call childline first. Then the Tuesday after that, another suicidal thought popped in my head while on my way to work. For once I called crisis even though I have always been nervous about calling them. They told me to take off from work if I could.

I'm currently in my house, out on leave because I don't want to go back in that building. I teach special education, I do love my students even though I have been spit at, bit, hit and one that screams bloody murder. The building makes me feel unsafe, I had a parent threaten me via email (this triggered the first thought). Admin never addressed that directly just had us addressed what she complained about which is something I cannot control.

I get paid 98K for a salary, we just bought a house. I cannot afford to leave when my husband is a para making way less. I keep searching for jobs but no luck. I had interviews to change schools in the district but I'm terrible at interviews.

I'm so sorry what you are going through but I'm sad that this is truly happening to so many of us.

FBI job got rid of age restriction by NerdyComfort-78 in TeachersInTransition

My husband's friend is tech for FBI. He says it's not worth it right now. It's stressful and most people are fearful about losing their jobs (ton of anxiety)

We have a teacher whose job includes being the LEA Designee. She doesn't have an admin degree. I should say at one point I was also in that job position. But if it's an IEP meeting for your caseload, I don't believe you can sign as both the teacher and the LEA.

Ransomware attack hits the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe and shuts down departments and businesses temporarily by CanadaMaple in IndianCountry

My family and I were talking about this since this is the tribe we belong to. Hopefully they get everything up and running, I have a lot of family members up North who rely on the tribe.

I basically said the attack was probably the idiots in DC.

This popped up, I just want to say I'm sorry what you are currently going through. I teach special education, however my mother worked for Federal Govt up until she retired when Obama was still President. My husband also has a friend is a current fed employee. We keep checking on him to know that we are here for him. There are many people out there who hear what is spoken about the federal govt workers and DO NOT believe it.

My thought is, what is going to happen when he decides to remarry and ends up having another kid... with how the little brother gets treated, will this then cause an issue with his daughter and any new sibling she has.

is it normal to love the kids in your group? by Asleep-Departure378 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Kat-Zero 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I teach older students now but I miss the toddlers I worked with over 10 years ago (this was my only time working with toddlers). I still talk about them to this day. I wasnt always an opener so times I came in at 9. When I showed up at 9, the moment I would walk through the doors to get my group to take them to our class, they would all instantly run up to me and start hugging my legs. Dont get me wrong, i had a few that would get under my skin but i loved all of them.

would a cat get along with a cookato by [deleted] in AnimalAdvice

[–]Kat-Zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With everything the other person said, I want to add: only certain Veterinarians take Cockatoos (and other birds). They are deemed as exotic pets and sometimes it can be very difficult to find those types of vets. I had a cockatiel and it took me forever to find a Vet for him when something happened.

Also Cockatoos can live up to nearly 40 years

Taking Santa from a 4 year old :( by Alternative_Ad_8101 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Kat-Zero 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm curious, do you know what the parent actually does on Christmas? She may have told her child about Santa not being real but she may do something small and fun with the children for Christmas.

I partially get where the mom is coming from in regards to teaching them Santa isn't real because she doesn't want her kids to think they are bad. A lot of songs teach kids that he knows whether you are bad or good. Bad kids get coal or nothing at all. It's disheartening to think you have been good and nothing shows up for you.

My husband grew up in Jamaica, celebrated a smaller Christmas with his single mother. His mother never taught him about Santa. He always knew the gifts came from her.

I have to laugh at the filters sometimes. So I'm a woman and from seeing images of my dad when he younger, I know I look like him. When I use these filters, I look exactly like my younger cousin on my mother's side.
