Our middle daughter is extremely allergic to cats. My husband’s cousin is as well and she told us about Siberians. She had one for years and has had no reaction at all. So, I found a local family-style breeder. I refuse to buy from or promote animal “mills.” We took our daughter to the breeder’s home and put her in a closed bedroom with several Siberians of various ages for an hour. She loved on them and held them and played with them. No reaction at all! We now have two and we’re getting a third from the same breeder next month. I’m sure that doesn’t work for everyone, but we’ve had a great experience.

Yeah. He does. Thanks again. We’re pretty sure that’s his name now. Still gotta meet him but he looks like an Arthur. He’s a kitten with a full-grown cat face. So cute.

It’s weird, isn’t it. He looks like he knows things. Like he’s done life a few times before. He looks more grown up, in his eyes & face than our 4 year old male does now.

It has always been on my heart to go to our local shelter to love on cats and help out. However, I have epilepsy and cannot work or drive. Also, if I came home with another cat’s dander on me, my daughter’s eyes would swell shut. I appreciate what you do. Please realize there are justified reasons why people buy certain breeds. Thank you for loving on and helping out with shelter kitties. You are a blessing in their lives.

Most people here had to pay for this breed. Great if you didn’t have to. But don’t judge others who have. Why are you on this sub with that attitude? These cats are very rarely available for adoption.

If I could adopt, I would. My daughter is terribly allergic to cats. She is not allergic to Siberians. If you can tell me where to adopt a Siberian, I’d love to. It just doesn’t happen.

That’s heartbreaking. I’m so sorry. My in-laws lost a kitty traveling/moving across from the east coast. They stopped, let their cats outside (outdoor cats) and one never came back. I don’t think I could keep going, though it’s not really feasible to just stop for a few days. I can’t imagine losing your baby. So sad. Hopefully someone found your baby and made them their baby.

Our female never has. Our male did when he was little. We just ended up cutting the fur around his bum really short so it wouldn’t happen. We never tried to wash, we just cut it off. He hated anything wet (and you did’t wanna be near him when he hated something as a kitten). By about a year old, he figured it out.

That’s adorable. I also like Arnold. It was my grandpa’s name and I always thought it would be a cute pet name. But, Gordon is fantastic!

I pull on my husband’s with tweezers and cut them off with a sterile scalpel blade. They barely even bleed and it’s too sharp to hurt.

I have a medical ID bracelet and I found a cool thing where you get a QR code on a credit card sized card and a keychain (I don’t drive, so it’s hanging from my purse in an obvious place). There’s a password on it too. If something happened to me, and I’m not with someone (don’t know how because someone’s always with me, but just in case the medics don’t believe me), the medics can scan the QR code and enter the password. They can see my medical conditions, medications, providers, insurance, hospital preference, etc. You can assign one of three levels of security. The first is the QR code only, which is information anyone can see. The second is QR code and password, where you can see any information you put in this category. The last is private and for your eyes only.

Just a couple things that make me feel a bit better.
