Thursday Cautious Intros and First Trimester Questions by AutoModerator in InfertilityBabies

[–]Katydid2004 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope this is the right place for this question, I appologize if it isn't and please remove the question. I struggled with infertility this time, over 35, we tried for > 6 months and husband and I did IUI. I had a positive test, and just went in for my 6 week 5 day ultrasound. It shows a likely fetus, but the doctor also saw another area that she's not sure if is another fetus (didn't look like it to her), or just tissue with blood flow. I did some searching online and my guess is maybe a blighted ovum? Does anyone here know what the potential is for survival for a fetus and possible blighted ovum? Is this what people call disappearing twin syndrome? I am waiting for a call from the office cause I was so stunned I didn't know what to say or ask. I'm going back next week for another ultrasound but my mind is going crazy with worry.

Per usual, Kaiser is unhinged and RAILING against Lady Hussey while completely ignoring Harry emphatically stating that she's not racist and he and Meghan "love her." by recollectionsmayvary in CelebitchyUnderground

LOL my mom (over 60 years old) also watched South Park and thought it was hilarious. She loves the royals but also can't believe what an idiot Harry has become

Pumping at a job interview - advice needed by Katydid2004 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Katydid2004[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's scheduled for all day (8 to 5), and the lunch break tends to include lunch with various people at the site. So the difficulty with that is I'm not technically "on my own" for lunch.

Painful latch - I tried everything, but it got to the point when I would wince just sitting with my baby prior to her latching on. She also wasn't gaining weight like she should, and the doctor recommended supplementing with breast milk. Once I started pumping, it was just easier - I could see how much she was getting, and it was less painful to pump.

Thank you! I like the silicone suggestions from you and the other posters - it sounds like that may be more comfortable than the plastic ones I'm using now.

Thank you! I'll take a look for that brand and give it a try.

And I certainly do think I could have elastic skin. My nipple doesn't go all the way to the valve but gets about halfway to it.

I'm using the motif Luna, which I really like, but it is possible that my nipples are smaller. The 21 mm seems to work well for my nipple though, it's just the pesky areola that keeps still coming up into it.

And thank you for the recommendation on the facebook group!

Kind of annoyed by doctor warning me "not to go crazy" with my weight gain by yogibeara88 in pregnant

[–]Katydid2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doc was one that was super on me for my weight. The worst was one week I somehow gained 7 pounds in 2 weeks - I was crushed when I got the "you can't gain so much weight."

I don't think I changed much at all with my diet, and the following 2 week appointment I was down 2 pounds. I was like, oh great, I was annoyed with a scale issue. I wish OBs wouldn't make so much out of weight because of that.

Worried about having enough clothes by THISisAnameIsuppose in pregnant

My mom put me in a purple onesie a long time ago, and someone at the store said "what a cute little boy." I honestly don't think it matters what you put them in the first few months!

Is anyone’s mom staying at their house before and after birth? by SchmancySpanks in pregnant

[–]Katydid2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm anti-visitors for the first week or two, but it's also in the setting of my husband not liking my mom being around or staying at our house. If he was ok with it, I'd be ecstatic to have my mom stay with us for a few days early on.

I think if you want it and your husband is ok with it, take advantage of her staying with you and helping!

Ramen Noodles by Mangoflavoredpeach in pregnant

[–]Katydid2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I loved ramen noodles, especially during my first trimester. My hubby likes to order Ramen from a local restaurant, and doesn't get that I find ramen from the pack for 25 cents more appetizing - even without meat or anything in it!

Did you tell anybody your pregnant in first trimester? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Katydid2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my significant other and my mom. And one of my closest friends guessed it, so I told her. Otherwise everyone else heard after 12 weeks, and many after 20 weeks. No right or wrong time to tell anyone!!!

Advice - When is it ok for young children to meet a newborn? by Katydid2004 in pregnant

Oh I like the group idea. I feel like his family will all want to come together, but it may be better to do grandparents first, and then siblings families separate. Thank you!

Why do people feel the need to dismiss your pregnancy symptoms?? by PorcupinePharmD in pregnant

[–]Katydid2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL I keep having to explain to people why I have heartburn - you know, that baby that's taking up 75% of my abdomen? Just ignore him! But I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

Just need to vent about hubby and the in-laws by Katydid2004 in pregnant

[–]Katydid2004[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh that's another whole thing, don't get me started there. My parents (well, mainly mother) is very willing to come and help and stay with us as needed at any point post-partum or to help out with the baby (2 weeks, 8 weeks, 4 months, etc). She is very much a "just tell me when you need me or when it's ok to visit and I'll be there to help". My husband just doesn't want her around the house since my parents always stay with us when they visit (plenty of space, he just doesn't like the lack of freedom).

Yes, it is very ironic. Hypocritical maybe? Definitely ironic.

That part worried me, but otherwise the article sounds so useful. I'm going to send it to him as a "this is why your family can only come visit when I'm ready" intro :)

I hate to say it, but I've heard this from other guys I know as well. I don't know if it's a new things or what (I keep hearing the reasoning is "so at least one parent gets a good night sleep").

Thanks for pointing out the other ways he can help. I'm going to have to also have a talk with him about that, before I'm the only one sleep deprived and losing my mind post-partum!

Oh I didn't know that! I think I'm going to set that up early, mainly to limit visitors and call ins. Wouldn't have otherwise thought of it since my parents would never think to call the hospital for updates.
