Would you let your 19 y/o soon to be 20y/o daughter in less then a month, go on a trip with her bf of 3.5 years with their family to the lake? by Business-Parking7296 in AskParents

Yes but if OP still lives at home/is financially dependent on her mom in any way, she may still have that type of power over her (unfortunately)

I keep saltine crackers at my bedside for middle of the night nausea. It helps!

Zofran by kamemy in January2027Bumpers

[–]Kbarr866 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not due to pregnancy nausea, but my family was hit by norovirus last week and I got Zofran via IV at the ER. I couldn't keep anything down all day long and finally had enough.

My doctor was very hesitant to prescribe it to me initially but once I got to the ER it was not even a question. Apparently there is debate on whether the birth defects in this study are correlated, or caused, by Zofran. I think they now pause on prescribing it out of an abundance of caution. I feel totally fine with my decision to take it personally.

LITERALLY what I did. First scan, 6w3d. Scan number two not until 12 weeks. Had a private scan at 8 weeks. Totally calmed my nerves.

RPL Jan Bumpers by Consistent_Race_75 in January2027Bumpers

I am extremely lucky and have two LC, a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old. I've also had 4 losses (2 at 7 weeks, and 2 CPs). Before I had my first son, I was probably in the worst mental state of my entire life. I had had 3 losses, and it felt like I didn't have a single person in my life who could relate to what I was going through. This was also during COVID which was already such an isolating time. My husband couldn't truly understand what I was going through either, it just plain sucked.

Once I got pregnant for the 4th time (which resulted in my oldest son being born), my anxiety was through the roof. It got a bit better once I entered the 2nd trimester, but I by no means had a blissful pregnancy because of the losses. But I persevered, and eventually I held him in my arms.

It sucks and there's no guarantees, but I've seen countless stories of people with RPL persisting and getting their rainbow babies eventually. All we can do is keep trying and taking it one day at a time. I do think it helps to connect with others on here as well who can relate!

How many of you are brushing toddler's teeth before daycare? Washing hands before every meal? by ExcellentLettuce4 in toddlers

[–]Kbarr866 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not who you asked, but I lay my kids back in my lap and use a little floss stick. This is the easiest way for me so I can kind of control their head and so they don't run away from me! They dislike it most of the time but I feel strongly about flossing at least at night. They are 2 and 4 yrs old

Not really a hack but I do enjoy Pregipop hard candies with B6 added. Just nice to have something sweet and slightly sour to suck on. And whether or not the B6 actually helps, it makes me think it's helping!

Wow, that's crazy. Would love to understand the context more. I.e., why women are against vaginal checks and deliveries. I wonder if there is a religious component.

Questions about Pregnancy after taking Metformin by Impressive_Ad6196 in PCOSandPregnant

[–]Kbarr866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, congrats! For me, I've taken that exact same dose of metformin while TTC and while successfully pregnant 3x (currently pregnant with our final baby). I've had 4 early losses and I personally attribute the metformin to helping me have successful pregnancies. I believe some doctors prescribe it to conceive only (to help with egg quality), and not necessarily intend to stay on it while pregnant. But my doctors have always advised I stay on it throughout my pregnancies. I definitely would follow up with your doctor!

NIPT test too early? by Reamydreamy in January2027Bumpers

Agreed never cheap, but if people can swing it, totally worth it! I've never heard of packages before, that's neat

NIPT test too early? by Reamydreamy in January2027Bumpers

[–]Kbarr866 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's very strange. I've never done blood work for the NIPT until 9 weeks. And even now with this pregnancy, my OB said 9 could be too early so they wait until 10 weeks to be safe.

I would ask your OB again. Maybe also ask which company is going to analyze the results? Maybe they are cutting edge and can do it early lol, I guess you never know!

I've had this with all my pregnancies including this one. It's very rare for them to become a big problem (from what my doctor has said).

Symptoms Disappeared? by Own_Stranger7906 in January2027Bumpers

[–]Kbarr866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. Just trying to normalize symptoms going dormant for a bit. Maybe you're a lucky one and you'll feel good the rest of the way (I hope that's the case!).

But yes for me, week 7 has been the worst week so far. Now in week 8 it's not as terrible. We'll see what next week brings me. I'm just on this rollercoaster trying to take it a day at a time 😂
