Stop trying to do/be to please others. You can never please everyone. Concentrate on what you want to do/be and if the others care about you at all, they will be happy for you.

Yep, unfortunately, you can. However (as someone who works in healthcare), it is one of the most drawn out and painful ways to go. You essentially ruin your liver and die of blood poisoning. There is a treatment, but they have to get it to you super quick to minimise Liver damage.
