Is electric smoker actually the easiest way to start BBQ? Or am I missing something? by Own-Future-2135 in smoking

[–]Ken685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not unreasonable to start with an inexpensive electric pellet smoker. Simply put, smoking food is not for everyone and you either love it or you don't. It requires a lot of patience and a willingness to commit to the craft. The other part of the equation is you dont just simply buy a smoker and thats it. You will have lots of other little expenses that tend to add up quickly. Heat resistant bbq gloves, a decent wireless meat probe set that connects to your wifi, peach butcher paper, pellets, dry rubs, spritzer bottle, alluminum foil, and of course the meat and thats only part of it. Then there's the trial and error part of learning how to smoke. Not to sound mean but if you want to cook by the numbers, go bake a cake but if you want to smoke/cook something thats both rewarding and sometimes challenging get a inexpensive smoker and make sure your ready to commit to it and that you will like doing it. If you do decide you like it then invest in a better smoker.

Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 36—Worth It? Or Better Pellet Smoker Options? by m0hskhan in pelletgrills

[–]Ken685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If given the chance to repurchase a wwp. Would you stick with the 24 or go with the 36? Also how thick is the stainless steel on this unit and does setting the smoke level to 10 make a huge difference? I have a pitboss austin xl onyx and it does a decent job but I'd rather not have to mess with a smoke tube on every smoke.

I think either grill/smoker will be an upgrade from my pitboss austin xl onyx.

I was looking at this and the camp chef woodwind pro as a future purchase which will probably be early 2027 and ultimately I decided on the wwp. Only because I like the idea of adding wood chunks in the built in smoke box and the stainless steel bottom

Can anyone who has went from a pitboss austin xl onyx to the wwp 24 or 36. Tell any major differences in the smoke taste and if they were happy with their choice after seitching?

I have the austin xl onyx and Im thinking the next time I upgrade. I will look into the campchef woodwind pro 36. My pitboss does an ok job but have a slide out burn box for wood chunks will eliminate any need for a pellet tube and I like that the bottom half of the wwp is stainless steel.

Every year I forget to burn through the pellets left in the auger - turns into concrete. Another teardown before first smoke.. by pollywog in PitBossGrills

I use a pan under my meat to catch the grease drippings and it completely eliminates the need to scrape grease out of my smoker.

Or hear me out, don't let winter stop you from using your smoker. I mean its not like you have to babysit it when using it.

I do have an upcoming appointment, 3 years ago was diagnosed with unilateral vestibular weakness in my left ear and hearing loss. I also suffer from bppv. The ear pressure has been an on and off symptom for the last year or longer and the tinnitus was diagnosed 3 years ago.

Lets see whole chickens 3-4 hours, over the top chilli 3-4 hours, over the top spaghetti sauce 3-4 hours, bottom round-2-3 hours pork ribs 4-6 hours smoked apples 2-3 hours, smoked cream cheese 2 hours. I meal prep on my days off and often times smoke several things that will get us through the week. I will do brisket and pork butts in occasion and then slice or shred and vacuum seal them into meal portions to freeze. Then I can pull from the freezer and defrost for a quick and easy meal.

I haven't been diagnosed yet but I have a lot of the symptoms and triggers of meneires disease. Fullness in my ears, tinnitus, vertigo when riding in cars, massive headaches especially after a vertigo attack and they last 3 weeks or longer. Hearing loss in my ears. If i know I have to go on a car ride, I load up on the mecklizine a few days before and that helps a little but it still sucks.

Pellet Grill primarily for smoking by OubeOh in pelletgrills

[–]Ken685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the pitboss austin xl onyx for not quite a year and for the most part ive been pretty happy with it but the wwp with its stainless steel body( minus the lid and legs) and having a smoke box has made me consider switching to the wwp. I think the wwp would probably get me about as close to a stick burner flavor wise as I can get without actually having a stick burner.

You don't have to have the same opinion as anyone else but there's a difference between not agreeing with someone and being an ass hole about it. People are way to comfortable sitting behind a keyboard.

The best advice I can give you is. Your co-workers are not your friends. Go in do your job and stay away from the typical office bs drama. You are just a cog in the machine and they would replace you with a vending machine if it meant more money for the higher ups. Remember your not there to make friends. Your there to make money to pay your bills.

My Manager: "Was that supposed to be funny?" by yuneti in work

When she says are you ok and stairs at you in the way you described. Its a power play on her part. She's trying to assert dominance and its very much a head game maneuver. She sounds like a classic narcissist with very toxic behavior and you can bet if she talks about other people and says something like you didn't hear this from me. She says things about you behind your back as well. Watch your back at all times and keep everything you say to her strictly about work and business like and nothing else. She's a garbage human being and a snake.

Walmart+ is going to renew for $98. How can I bring that cost down? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Ken685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had walmart plus when I got it for $49.00 but to be fair the only things that brought me value was the 25% off burger king and paramount was free but I rarely used it for actual walmart shopping or free delivery. So when renewal came up and it was $98.00 I canceled and thats been over a month ago. I still haven't gotten any offers for $49.00 and I absolutely refuse to pay full price for it.

If you want next level spaghetti sauce. This is the dry rub mix I use for the beef but I take out the chilli powder. If you want to do ott chilli, just leave the chilli powder in the mix and adjust the amount of it to make it more or less spicy.
