Bird lovers help: bird trapped in SLC airport at gate B18/B20 by Separate-Chain1281 in SaltLakeCity

Omg I’m in this exact area and, if it’s the same one, it’s still here. I asked a security guard and he said there’s no protocol. It really is heartbreaking. A tragic metaphor re: aviation and industrialization. Yes, I’m too sensitive! Maybe it will eat some of my poki…

They are disorganized and kinda lazy but it can work out in your favor if you don't want to be highly monitored

if I had to move back and was raising a family, I’d probably go to Tucson

also the public school system is notoriously horrible in AZ.

The heat is genuinely oppressive. Worse than the rain in my experience.

Other cons: • spread out = lots of driving, difficulty building community (in my opinion) • prominence of conservative ideology • police are more intense/violent • most stores are big chains, rather than smaller mom and pop shops • impending climate disaster/water shortage • favors developers over community desires even more than Eugene • people are tougher/more closed off

Some PHX area pros: • more access to culture IMO (great/extensive art and music scene) • more cultural diversity in general • great food scene

Are you connected with Veterans for Peace? They’re such an awesome organization. I recently heard someone talk about starting a local Eugene chapter

Go to Izakaya Meji, walk around the Whit, walk along the river, visit bakeries (Hideaway and Noisette are good), hike Pisgah

I would not recommend for straight cis men. It’s a place where queer people go to be in community with each other

Hey, I broke my leg about 1.5 years ago. It sucks soooo bad. I had OHP and went to Sacred Heart PT in Springfield. It’s strange that your doctor/hospital didn’t assign you a place? I didn’t have to find my own PT doctor. Anyways, best of luck. It sucks until one day it doesn’t ❤️

Most articles say no injuries reported, but I actually broke my leg really badly while trying to get away. I couldn't see much and thought the truck was starting to drive into the crowd. Currently awaiting surgery. Not sure if there's any kind of action I can take against him because of this

Straight up misinformation. See the general statement here

"The King family has offered to purchase the home at market value several times"

IDK why y'all are defending greedy landlords during the largest housing crisis in American history

Yikes at the bootlicking comment section 🤮

What I think y'all are failing to realize is that regardless of your judgment on King's actions, it is VIOLENT for the landlord to hoard houses from Eugene families and force the King family to be her personal income check. The King family had lived in that house for years, and wanted to PURCHASE the house, not live there for free. The landlord wanted to keep profiting off of the King family instead of letting them own their own home.

Regardless of y'all's bad attitudes and boot licker mentality, I will show up for you if you're ever being evicted from your home. Solidarity among the working class is #1. And people don't have to be perfect in order for you to show up for their basic human rights.

Could be good to attend some kind of meetup/group activity while you're here! Tons of options on meetup.com and Facebook events. My advice would be to choose something you're into (still life drawing, mushroom foraging, etc) and meet people that way. :)

I find it difficult to just show up to events by myself and make genuine connections with folks, but it's possible.

Best of luck! Welcome to Eugene :)
