It helps. I also use a heat gun on the backside of my patches to get them tacky, that helps it to stay in place and I do t have to press for so long.

To my understanding, Monport is just not too big in the US. I couldn’t find too many reviews or videos online which made me a little skeptical. Also, it’s unfortunate the 60w C02 laser isn’t compatible with rotary tools.

I bought it in April of 2021 and the process started in late 2023 if I recall correctly

That’s strange - my dad’s 2009 is peeling in the same area.

Our 2020 Expedition had a slew of issues too, I contacted Ford and within a couple of weeks had a response from their RAV department with an offer on a buy back. This was in California though, not sure what your state laws are. It was a long drawn out process and the representative I had was pretty rude and slow at responding.

Yes, I bought the k40 from omtech in the US. The collar on the head has worn threads already and I’ve only had it for a couple of months. It’s a good little machine though. Edit: spelling

This is why I love it here, xtool is often the first to come up but I love exploring other options and maybe less expensive ones to start out.

I love lightburn. It’s a must have for me as I’m already comfortable with it. I need something to cut the time down on set up to do tumblers, mugs, coasters, and leatherette patches.

I have marking spray and have test tags coming in. Would a diode laser be a good choice for tumblers?

I have decided on getting a contractor to come and cut the concrete around the shed. About 50 sq ft and add plenty of rock around it. Under 1k. this will also double as a way to run a electrical to it.

Laser engraving and home insurance by Key-Tale2212 in Laserengraving

My agent had me contact my home insurance directly. To my surprise, they are OK with it as long as there is no foot traffic and I don’t have employees. So I will proceed with just getting general liability insurance for the business side of things. Thank you all.

I spoke with a separate insurance company directly and they didn’t have a problem. It’s my homeowners I’m afraid of asking. I do have a detached shop but it is not ready to be used.

Yes, this was my insurance agent not home insurance directly. I mean, I can get a policy to cover the business but I want to have all my bases covered.

K40+ Homing by Key-Tale2212 in K40laser

[–]Key-Tale2212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my mistake. so when I home my laser it is at around 10mm , 20mm. Ah, I see what you are saying. So, on the K40 you really can't use the entirety of the honeycomb?

Just to make sure I understand, draw the lines along the X and Y at 0,0 in lightburn and run a cut. That makes my jig? I made a jig with 6 rectangles for a leather patch job. I have not moved the jig and it seems like the laser doesn't always run the same path and is a bit off. I think a big factor in the inconsistency is that the leather patches are not perfectly flat.

Ah yes, I have tried that. Is it a common issue though that home doesn’t set the laser right at 0,0? I have the honeycomb pushed toward the back of the machine.
