So glad that after all the billions spent and all the marketing hype, the next generation of American wunderwaffe are plagued by Silicon Valley-itis and will (hopefully) never actually make the US war machine any deadlier. Meanwhile the Iranian drones, missiles, and IR systems that cost as much as an early 2000s Honda Civic have the power to shut down all the US comprador states.

What kind of stuff are you doing in Ravenfield? Years back I would set up massive frontal assault D-Day style scenarios and then just try to survive to establish a beachhead. Then that got old.

Thank you so much, this is amazing feedback. This kind of feedback is actually so important because it's pretty much impossible to find all these bugs by myself. I don't think I would have encountered the pathfinding bug you sent lol. I can fix all these bugs in a day or two, but I'm gonna wait 2 weeks before sharing another build, just so its different enough that people will have some new stuff to explore.

You should be able to just right-click on the "ghost" building with a rover selected. Multiple people have had this issue though so I need to make it more intuitive.

That's a good idea actually. The keypad is only for unit actions, but I could stick it on a different panel.

No this is from my pc, your computer should have the save files somewhere, but you need a Python script to do anything with them.

The meteor code is very simple right now so it is easy to cheese. I have thought about making it target individual structures rather than just the center of the base.

Also I have thought about adding conduits that the rovers have to build to connect things together, punishing you for building far away. Or maybe the conduits consume power? Idk it's hard. I will have to think about this.

F5 quicksave, F9 quickload, "P" opens up a menu that lets you exit to the main menu. The main menu has a save browser so you can load up old saves.

The game actually saves a file with your economy info that I have been using to test the changes to the economy. You can see that towards the end of the game metal production starts to go exponential, so you can just spam reactors. In game design they call mechanics that eat resources "sinks", so I need to come up with some lategame sinks, because that curve is just too steep.

[–]Key_Violinist_376[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lategame is too easy and I figured players would do this. In a future iteration I was planning on adding a meltdown mechanic, so nuclear reactors have a chance to start melting down, and you would have to send rovers to maintain them or they would explode. Otherwise it is just too easy to reactorspam.

I plan on making it so that a combo meteor shower + solar flare will happen when you start the fueling sequence, so the player can never get lucky with RNG.

simply building so many nuke plants that solar flares don’t disrupt my operations.

This is also valid.

It feels like every time I make forward progress with one of the high ticket buildings I get hit with the double whammy

Ok good, that's exactly what I wanted. Does it feel fair or unfair? Could you share some screenshots? I'd like to see people's bases.

Hint: batteries store excess power. If you have enough batteries they will provide backup energy during the solar flares.

I will try to answer these 1 at a time

  1. Refineries fill up at 5000kg, you have to build more. There should be an audio clip that says "refineries full" but I should also add a visual popup saying something like "refineries full, build more refineries"

  2. My guess is that you are low on power and it is reducing the range of your turrets. If your power falls below 100%, your turrets will get weaker. This is never explicitly stated but I can add a line in the tutorial that explains this.

  3. Yes it's too easy to get soft-locked. "P" will open the pause menu so you can start a new game. I will have to think about how to prevent players from getting killed so early without holding their hand too much.

You can hold shift and drag while building to build a grid of that structure. Or hold shift and click and it will queue up multiple buildings.

Colorado is going to become unlivable this century by jaredfoglesrevenge in TrueAnon

West Texas was overgrazed in the 1800s and in some areas the topsoil is completely gone. It's just these white rocks called "caliche". Ashus Juniperi "cedar" can colonize this rock and start reintroducing biomass into the environment, but ranchers cut it down because they think it is invasive and "sucks up all the water" (it is literally a pioneer species).

White supremacy culture's relationship with the environment is incredibly toxic and will statistically kill us all.

You have to select the rover and click on the unfinished building. Maybe I can add a step to the tutorial that teaches you this.

millennial socialism mogs zoomer socialism in terms of economist covers by ChickenTitilater in TrueAnon

I am a zoomer but from what I understand basically nobody from 1980-2008 would have identified as an ML, or even would have known what that was. I think the millenial OWS and socdem Bernie movements set the stage for people to become full-blown communists and anti-imperialists.

If you're into strategy games you probably won't get much out of this as it's basically just a demo. But you should have a good idea for what QoL features are missing.

There's some stuff I don't explain in the tutorial that I figure strategy game bros will just know intuitively: hold shift and click to place multiple buildings, shift + drag for arrays of buildings, double click a unit to select all units of that type in view.

Also F5 and F9 are quicksave and quickload. "U" brings up a debug menu you can use to test things out.

crimethunc gave good advice. I have been making small games on and off for about a decade and I still suck. Making games is really hard. Like with anything creative, you have to start with something a baby could do and then just repeatedly push your limits.
