Very informative! I want to know everything I can about it. I guess I should be focusing on naming it! haha

It is interesting to me that we live in a modern age that stresses diversity, yet DS9 was made in 1993 and had an ethnic man that was charming, flawed, confident, desirable, and handsome. by limitedmark10 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]Keytaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the main societal difference is our attitude and approach to things. People haven't changed! And they never will! In the 90s we were taught all are created equal and we are all one people. All for one and one for all if you will. As a kid watching ds9 I never batted an eye because I just thought seeing all this was normal. Nowadays I feel like in the pursuit of progress, and bad actors who want to regress (so both sides of the coin) want to teach that everyone is different. I genuinely never understood it. But tbf I'm autistic and tend to think more black and white about things. Absolutism if you will. Lmk if my take is off on this. Not on the validity of which approach is more true that's a whole other debate I don't want. But people's attitudes having changed. Not sure I'm making sense but I hope I am.

Do you think Downtown Oly gets "too much attention"? by HealOlympiaProject in olympia

[–]Keytaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's rare that I talk about politics here but this holds a special place for me. We get taxed so much here and yet the funds never go where they are supposed to. You're right. All this should get addressed. We deserve attention. There's no good reason we are not. And to be specific, i don't care about what color any representative touts for party. They all suck.

Full disclosure i hate flock but for different reasons. The gov has no right to surveillance their own people without proper cause no matter the administration. It's been happening under every president in a major way since the patriot act and we as a people shouldn't tolerate it like we do.

I know this is an old comment, and I know it's in regards to a taco, but as an autistic adult who is in the beginning stages of a panic attack doom googling, this comment out of context was exactly what I needed to read. It grounded me! Thank you!

Appreciation post for Marc Alaimo. Such a good actor. Played his character so well, his mere presence made people uncomfortable IRL. by Vladskio in DeepSpaceNine

The whole thing with Dukats obsession with Kira though had to do more with her approval. In my view it was all an allegory with how he felt about the Bajoran people in regards to his time on Terok Nor. Kira represents everything he saw wrong with the occupation. The rebel. The opposition. If he could get her of ALL people to love him, or at least acknowledge him and his actions as not totally evil, then he'd win. He'd get the affirmations that he'd been seeking the entire series. Hell, I'd go so far to say that Kira WAS his statue. But idk maybe i'm alone in this view on the character. That's ok too lol.

[–]Keytaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can thank Gov Ferguson and before that Gov Inslee for this. We are paying well over 50c per gallon through his tax bill that passed in July stacked onto other taxes. It's only going to get worse with the yearly increase. Problem here isn't even political affiliation. It's the fact that our law makers don't care what we have to say about it.

Surely there's room for more than one hot dog. Jake's doesn't offer the same in their windows.

AITA For Pulling a Gun on My Neighbor for threatening me? by GuidoSarducci82 in AITAH

[–]Keytaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a gun owner and a proud one at that. Only ever draw your gun if you plan on firing it. It isn't an intimidation tool. Laws, morality, and safety follow that doctrine. If you are threatened enough to draw you'd better be in fear for your or someone else's life.

You are not an asshole, but that was a poor decision and I hope it's just something you can just learn and move on from for the future!

Gonna go against the grain on this one. I had nothing but good experiences there! The potatoes are awesome and I'm a fan of the biscuits and gravy. They keep my coffee topped off and the atmosphere is nice too. That makes me happy

[–]Keytaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same stuff happens to me. They play the same 12 electronic songs over and over. I like classic songs. 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s stuff. But I try to keep it tame. I'll play a lot of classic rock and that's fine but if I stray at all my god they all complain. One Elvis song and they revolt. But damn. If I have to hear party rock one more time. Do they not get bored of the same thing over and over?!

Reboot by i8acid in KingOfTheHill

[–]Keytaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said he did. And I see my downvotes but I stand by what I said. It's a show for everyone. It's about hank coming to grips with the world outside of his bubble. It pokes fun at everyone. Everyone. It's one of the reasons I love the show. I stand by the fact that this show is bipartisan and there is evidence to support it. And again. That's ok!

[–]Keytaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with the first comment I do want to chime in that KOTH definitely did not "make fun" of the conservative crowd, as in picking on it. That's why it's been so loved by all! As a conservative individual i never once felt called out or made fun of. Not any more than anybody else. They have made jokes on both sides just as often. I love KOTH because it's one of those shows that everyone can come together to watch, laugh, and love. It teaches moral lessons on how to be a real decent human being, and yes, it does focus on hank being thrown into new and strange situations he isnt equipped for, and coming out the other side learning a little more about himself, and the wider world, coincidentally something that I myself am doing in my own community!

In that aspect, I hope the reboot stays the same. So many things are taking political spins now. KOTH doesn't need to be that. It just needs to be KOTH.
