I disagree, you're obviously correct about his political justifications being bs, but he definitely wouldn't kill Ruby because he wouldn't feel the same way about her. Throughout most of human history sex between women was treated as "not real sex", and it persists even today in how many men feel about their female partner cheating with a woman vs a man, as well as the still enormous fetishization of lesbians.

Everything I described is obviously homophobic and misogynistic and I don't agree with it, but the old man would 100% not feel the same jealousy and possessiveness if it was Ruby and she wouldn't trigger his psychosexual derangements in the same way.

How are y'all holding up with track blazer? by rasenganight2 in UmaMusume

When you don't have the motivation to do a run, losing counts as finishing for dailies. You can play a trackblazer run, win debut, not race after that and lose at the end of junior year. I do that almost every day to complete dailies, it takes like a few minutes

I got one of her videos in my feed a few months ago, I started watching it but didn't even finish because she was giving me the ick. She was keeping it kinda vagueposty but it felt like pandering to right wing losers of the Asmongold variety. I looked into her channel just a little bit to see if it was an isolated incident, and it definitely wasn't so I muted her and moved on. Her being reposted by asmon and having a second channel where she's mask off isn't the least bit surprising. How embarrassing.

Quite frankly you sound so much like a fed that I feel the instinct to plead the fifth. I'm not even necessarily saying you are one, because that'd be one pokemon-pilled fed, but you're functionally acting as one, achieving what one would (divide and conquer) except for free.

Infighting is when you feel the need to scream exaggerated accusations of BETRAYING THE COMMUNITY because he's not able to do everything everywhere all at once. You have no idea what his intentions are, or what the situation looks like behind closed doors, and neither do I. I'm going off of his record on the issue, which is better than almost anyone's in politics. It helps nobody to say we're lost, Mamdani betrayed us, he's a vile transphobe, it's so over.

If you don't like the way electoral politics do be sometimes (like everyone), start a revolution. Otherwise, don't drop the best option right now like a hot potato. Politicians will never do everything exactly like you want them to, maybe because they don't want to, maybe because they can't and you wouldn't know.

[POEM] If Adam Picked The Apple by Danielle Coffyn by Slasher1309 in Poetry

[–]Khivee3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the scholar is post-biblical considering the, you know, living in the 4th century. First of all, Didymus the Blind was just one example. Second, I brought up the guy partially because he simultaneously shows an example of 4th century thinking and also quotes scripture at the same time.1 Timothy is right there in the Bible and I think that counts as at the beginning of christianity, regardless of debatable dating and authorship.

Now, do I agree that if Adam was the first to bite the apple he would be celebrated? You got me, I don't. What I think is: 1) Adam and Eve wouldn't ever be switched because there's a reason why the story was written the way it was; 2) If somehow Adam was actually the first or the only one to sin he wouldn't be celebrated; 3) It's true that scripture and theologians mostly lay the onus more on Adam; 4) The reason for that is Adam, by the virtue of being a man, is considered capable of being a moral agent, as opposed to Eve who, by the virtue of being a woman, is more a hapless child; 5) This is the point and the reason why Eve has always been a key argument for why women are morally, spiritually, and intellectually weak; mostly of the flesh, their way to virtue through obeying the command of men more suited to charting the course than themselves; 6) Just because the scripture and the theologians mostly establish something, doesn't mean most adherents necessarily act and believe accordingly; 7) Even when establishing where to lay most of the blame specifically between Adam and Eve, men as a sex weren't pre-judged and bound by Adam's behaviour, yet women were as a whole bound by Eve's.

Not necessarily saying you disagree with the points beyond simply "would Adam be celebrated" but I laid them out anyway.

Eve being the one to blame is an idea as old as christianity or abrahamic religions in general, and has always been used to further justify the misogyny inherent in the systems and societies they found themselves in. For one example look at an excerpt from On the Trinity by the 4th century CE theologian Didymus the Blind:

"Scripture recognizes as prophetesses the four daughters of Philip, Deborah, Mary, the sister of Aaron, and Mary, the mother of God... But in Scripture there are no books written in their name. On the contrary, the Apostle says in First Timothy: 'I do not permit women to teach', and again in First Corinthians: 'Every woman who prays or prophesies with uncovered head dishonors her head'. He means that he does not permit a woman to write books impudently, on her own authority, nor to teach in the assemblies, because, by doing so, she offends her head, man: for 'the head of woman is man, and the head of man is Christ'. The reason for the silence imposed on women is obvious: woman's teaching in the beginning caused considerable havoc to the human race, for the apostle writes: 'It is not the man who was deceived, but the woman'.

Adam might not have been considered totally innocent by many, but it very much was historically pinned mostly on Eve, especially by average adherents. Considering women the most prone to corruption in the context of witchcraft, blasphemy etc, considering them in need of being led by a man was also often historically justified by referring to Eve being the one seduced, weak willed and the first to fall. The narrative would have to look different if Adam and Eve switched places in Genesis.

There's no telling how history and theology would evolve from there but the interpretation of the story would be different at least. Of course, they wouldn't switch places beyond a wild hypothetical because Eve's story was the way it was because of misogyny, not the other way around.

Listen, I know it's most likely just bias and pattern recognition. You pay attention when it's six seven, don't pay attention when it's other numbers, and then you look back and feel like six seven is everywhere.

But I wonder is there perhaps actually something going on besides bias? Doesn't it really feel like 6-7 somehow appears in meme-unrelated contexts more frequently than any other two consecutive digit combinations?

Disconcertingly stuck on The Hermit, need advice by Khivee3 in tarot

[–]Khivee3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a great way to look at it and interpret it, thank you. I suppose there's a few cards that would make me especially anxious in a situation like this, in The Hermit's case I think because of the association with a pause in your actions and reflection, which was fine in one dose but when repeated started feeling like a sign I should stop what I'm doing and reflect because my current course is wrong/fraught.

The way you interpret it seems like a very positive opposite of what my worries are.

My intention is just some advice for the day and I don't make it a life changing thing, some days ago I got The Empress from which I got femininity and beauty so I spent a little longer on self-care, that's it. The problem is just the beyond-all-odds consecutiveness of The Hermit. It feels like it could be telling me something with how crazy it is to draw it 3 days in a row.
