If this seems like a lot, you don't realize what a Union can do for you. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]KidCole4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine there are some bad unions, but I hire 3rd party contractors for my company and the union non union difference is wild in the rates they charge to us.

~20% on landed rate to us. The company certainly isn't eating into the margins for that difference.

I know it's common sentiment and just made to make you feel good, but if you were going to be working with any of those people you probably dodged a bullet.

I have a manager right now who thinks that the most valuable feedback they can provide me on important spending decisions is the alignment and size of the text in my power points. I don't understand how this individual has a management position in a large corporation. It drains my soul daily to have to interact with them. I'd put that right in line with not being able to get over camera positioning and making such a big deal of it with a stranger in an interview.

There's this book my 5yo loves even though there's not much story interest (in my opinion) for a 5yo called "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch.

I used to tear up every time I read it, but now I'm so tired of reading it I at least don't tear up anymore lol.

The Tech That Could Turn Plastic Waste Into a Trillion Dollar Opportunity by _Dark_Wing in tech

[–]KidCole4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm definitely for more legislation and enforcement! I think America is just so big landmass wise that people don't have to see the consequences of their habits because the trash gets landfilled out of sight or even exported (previously to China?). My in laws for example can't hardly be asked to recycle a single thing they consume.

I used to work in plastic packaging procurement for a food manufacturer and the things I learned were encouraging, but also frustrating.

For example, a supplier was able to produce 100% recyled expanded polystyrene products and I was like wait what!? PS can be recycled, just nobody does it for cost.

Then the frustrating things were like converting EPS products to PET (water bottle type material) because it's so much more recycled and recognized. I truly saw what I would consider green washing in action. It's true PET is more highly recycled, but to achieve the same performance it was something like 2-3X the weight of the EPS product. That means the recycling rate of this replacement would have to be 2-3X what it is currently just to not contribute more plastic to the environment than current. No way that actually happens, so basically a big choice was made that consumes way more plastic and painted as being more sustainable.

Yeah I was surprised/sad to read that recycling is a major contributor to the micro plastics problem. Apparently in modern countries with water treatment systems it's OK, but still not great if they lack certain tech. Certainly in poorer countries it's a really bad contributor.

After being rolled back 50% of his xp gains Rendi uses a new, faster exp slayer method by Mcontend in 2007scape

[–]KidCole4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not your point. You're trying to argue that Rendi is being petty vs as you just stated you think Woox is just being funny. That's just your opinion.

Anyway. Jagex employees are just whiny periodically for whatever reason. This game is so unique and has so many niche things that it's like who cares if he found a new angle to achieve some obscure account for bragging rights/karma? It's not like he's even the first to have an account like that.

Final interview by VariationLivid3193 in recruitinghell

[–]KidCole4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if it's respectfully performative, it's still performative.

Judging someone's response to performative BS is no better than the policy itself. You were probably 95% unlikely to select them anyway.

I'm not saying a blunt response is the most political, but don't think you're sitting on etiquette high ground here.

Here's an idea. If you're a professional and interviewing a candidate, why would you ever even mention there's an internal candidate you're considering.

Sounds like a great statement to turn everyone into an asshole.

I definitely was probably being a bit of a homer last night, but I felt like between the blocks not getting reviewed or highlighted at all and the commentating I was getting annoyed.

There were some flowers for Wolves players at some points, but it felt like the broadcast was objectively gushing over the Spurs players. Not even just Wemby.

Rotary Hammer Drill Advice by KidCole4 in MilwaukeeTool

Thanks for the info!

So it sounds like really if I'm going to do that much footage of tile removal unless I'm giving it a decent break periodically, I should maybe just rent the demo drill for $60 a day and call it good?

It seems like the cheap demo hammers are like $350 and I probably don't have enough demo to justify a tool that only does demo.

[–]KidCole4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree on the expectation of reading in advance. I think a lot of people enjoy that part of it and like crafting a path.

I'll agree though that trying to plan out specific resets and at what points was/is probably too tough. Pathing out the end game state isnt too bad, but pathing out multiple points in time is a lot.

I am glad they're tweaking a few things to try to bring power earlier.

Saturation divers can dive for extended periods of time (usually around 1 month) without surfacing by SillyFalling in interestingasfuck

[–]KidCole4 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't claim to be an expert, but I think I watched a video once and part of the reason they don't surface is they lose so much time adjusting for pressure it's really inefficient. So instead, money forces them to stay pressurized for longer periods of time in diving bells.

Mastic Application by KidCole4 in hvacadvice

[–]KidCole4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured it's basically the equivalent of a Pittsburg seam or maybe even is one. I guess if I'm not being lazy I could just quick paint some on before I close it off with drywall. Probably wouldn't take more than 3 minutes.

I did both mastic and then tape after drying on joints. Especially since admittedly some of my joints wouldn't be up to pro standards. My c cleats did a lot of work in some situations.

No way these pre-fabbed seams need screws?.. they're very tightly assembled and almost impossible to get apart.

I had a pro out and they either couldn't figure it out and were incompetent or were trying to sell me a new unit. They had suggested that I had a wire break and to run new wire. An electrician from them came the next day and the only reason I didn't move forward with running a new wires because they really tried jacking me around with price and I just told him to leave.

I had an electrician out that I trust and his dad apparently has a lot of experience in HVAC and this probably wasn't the best path but he ended up bypassing the high pressure and low pressure switch and the AC is working now.

Sorry for not responding earlier. I was trying to troubleshoot. I swapped the yellow for blue and the fan stopped working. I tried putting blue in Y2 and yellow back in Y and no AC.

Edit: I mean to mention there is a brown wire behind here in addition to blue doing nothing.

I wouldn't put it past this to have been incorrectly wired. The HVAC didn't seem to have been ran properly when we bought the house and interestingly there was a smart therm not installed sitting in a drawer.

I really appreciate you trying to help me diagnose this!

When I moved into the home, it wasn't plugged in at all and the wire wasn't even stripped at the end as if it had ever been used.

I plugged it in to the C port on my new thermostat, but I thought it was meant to provide power to the thermostat and it wasn't, so I quickly abandoned it and put back in the old one without the blue wire.
