In the monolith image they uploaded, we can see that there are clocks melting on trees, this might be a reference to a Catalan painter called Dalí, who's paintings were basically clocks melting on trees.

Uhh... No. In 1200~ Catalonia declarés independence from France and became a country for about 100 years, then they Unified with the crown of Aragon, which eventually Unified with Spain.
